Rodina Classic Automatic Wrist Watch OEM by Sea-Gull ST17 Movement Watch

Whether you consider it an homage to the Nomos TANGENTE, or a complete knockoff, you have to give Rodina credit for getting it right. The case and font are both spot-on. I have always liked the bauhaus design, but actually prefer larger diver or world timer watches as my daily beaters. The Rodina and Nomos watches, however, are firmly planted in the dress watch segment. As such, I wasn't sure I'd want to drop two grand on a TANGENTE that I would only wear six times a year, at best. Along comes Rodina with a solid answer to my query! At $125, the Rodina is a steal. I say this because it's an automatic, not a manual wind like the Nomos, and therefore my winder box will keep it accurate until I put it on. Watch snobs will hate me for saying this, but I prefer the functionality of an auto over the beauty of a manual wind. The Seagull movement has proven itself to be an accurate choice at this price point. The average watch lover would not be able to tell the $125 Rodina from the $2,000 Nomos were it not for the branding on the dial. The only complaint I have at this point is the awful quality of the leather band. (I actually think the band is PU leather on the outside, and real leather on the inside) At this price point, I had no problem with swapping out the band. Doing so will have the Rodina looking like a thousand dollar watch. I recommend visiting the Strapped For Time website if you decide to upgrade the band. I decided to purchase the blue and black calf leather band, as it matched the color of the Rodina's blued dial hands.

You get exactly what you pay for. The cheapest possible watch with automatic movement. It feels very light and the movement is very noisy. You are not going to fool anyone or yourself that this is a Nomos. I personally bought it so I can learn how to service and take apart automatic watches as i didnt want to mess up my other more expensive watches.

For the money, you cannot beat this watch. AMAZON pictures are old. No China Made markings on dial face on my model. Keeps very good time!
