PORTLANDIA is IFC's hit sketch comedy series created, written by, and starring Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (WILD FLAG, Sleater-Kinney vocalist/guitarist). The show is driven by a series of hilarious character-based shorts all of which take place in ""Portlandia,"" the creators' dreamy and absurd rendering of Portland, Oregon where '90s culture reigns supreme and political correctness is all the rage.

5 Stars for the Series
I really enjoyed this episode - Olivia Wilde was hilarious, but my five stars is for the program as a whole rather than any one episode. Portlandia is clever, sweet, smart and funny and though its characters are caricatures there is a real warmth and respect for them from Carrie and Fred in their writing and performances that I find quite lovely and refreshing. I crave Portlandia for the general happy feeling it gives me overall rather an any one episode or gag - it truly is like having a visit with some of my real life favorite friends...sometimes they are happier than other times, sometimes stressed, but overall they are awesome and add to my life. Portlandia has that same effect on me. It doesn't replace my favorite human friends but it captures a lot of their essence (as arguably Portland as a city itself does). In a world that is often sharp, nasty, disappointing and exasperating, Portlandia is a welcome respite.

Celery is one of the best episodes in the whole series
Portlandia is such a great show. Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen are so warm and so funny, I look forward to every episode. To be sure, some episodes are more spectacular than others, and Celery is one of the best in the whole series. For anyone who's ever worked in marketing (or in a corporate office, or, heck, tried to eat kale), the Celery metaphor will ring hilariously true and close to home. Which is the genius of Portlandia: they strike so close to home and make you laugh about the absurdity of it at the same time. Steve Buschemi and Carrie Brownstein rule this episode. Love the film noir touches, too.

Portlandia easily ranks in my top 20 shows of all time. And I'm old.
It's Portlandia. They're far from jumping the shark. It's FIVE STARS. Period.Fred and Carrie were born to do this show, and they've done amazing stuff on theirown, but Portlandia is exactly where they should be. Seen them all, own them all, even lived there while they filmed seasons 2 and 3. It's actually a documentary too.Sorry people from Portland, but you laugh at yourselves all the time, you set yourselvesup to BE laughed at, and Portlandia incorporates the great Boho aspects, as well asthe artsy stuff, AND the dummies. It's a fantastic show.

Toni and Candace rule!
Portlandia is like living in a college town. And after going to grad school in Boston and working in Cambridge, I met and became friends with people who could have been prototypes for the characters in the show, as well as possessing the earnest, deeply caring way they saw the world. Portlandia is lovely and magical with the opening sequences awash in green, harkening back to a simpler time of marching bands, parades, and picnics. So stop by and spend a half hour with seriously silly people who I believe would stop and help a stranger in a heart beat. In fact HEART is what powers Portlandia.

Security Stickers All Over It
Just trying to round out my Portlandia collection. Kind of mad there was a huge security sticker on the outer sleeve that ruined it (see photo). Also another security sticker on the inside folder!

Portlandia's quirky humor continues to make me laugh
I love this series! Carrie and Fred's skits in Portlandia can be so inane, yet, at the same time, carry a vein of truth that makes me essentially feel like I am laughing at myself. I recognize that this kind of humor is not as widely shared as the kind that we regularly see on sitcoms, romantic comedies, etc. I have talked to friends who aren't captured by the humor, and others who, like me, find it extremely funny. All I can say is, watch a few episodes and find out whether or not you are captured by Portlandia.

Season 4 falls short on yuks. PS: don't waste the extra cash on buying this in HD.
I don't understand how everyone loved this season. I just finished watching 10 episodes and it wasn't even close to being as funny as seasons 1-3. It lost its snap and falls short of limp on this one. The jokes are meh, and the skits are half baked.I could re watch several episodes from season 1-3. Not so with season 4. I purchased the entire season with the intention of hilarity and comic relief to ensue. Instead I was left at the season finale feeling like this one was really scraping the bottom of the comedic barrel for laughs.Oh, and what is with the name dropping and product placement? Virgin airlines, oshkoshbigosh? Seriously? The characters that we all know and love were one dimensional and just, well..flat. In the end it was just a rehash and repurpose of all of their old material from seasons 1-3 but without the funny factor. Most definitely will not be the one to say, "hey babe, let's watch a few episodes of Portlandia tonight!" for this flop of a season.Hopefully next season is better, but I'm not giving my hopes up just yet. Very, very disappointing.!

Obsessed
I have been binge watching this show for 3 weeks and now I finally caught up to season4! This show gets better and better. I love the strong witty sarcasm. I definitely will say that this show is not for everyone. If you don't understand the political references in snl then you definitely wont understand this show at all. This show makes me want to move to Portland.

I'm the pull out king!
This show is certainly not for everyone, as the humour is weird, and centered on subcultures, so if you aren't 18-35 you probably will be annoyed by this show. Maybe check it out on youtube before you commit. As for me, I love it!

Self indulgent attempts at humour mixed with genuinly funny bits here and there
I bought Seasons 1 thru 4 on the recommendation of someone I know, I found only 1 in 4 skits to be genuinely funny, the others were often self obsessed and even mean spirited so it made it so I did not wish to watch the rest of the series.....maybe they get better, i won't be watching to find out...Series 1 is the one I watched...the rest are going into the giveaway
