Work great.
I thought for sure it would be just like the one that came originally. Not true. This one pics up all of the small silt debris at the bottom of the pool. Works like a champ!!!!

Did a good job
Really windy night after some loose dirt was laid down over the summer. Woke up in the AM, noticed the pool looked like there was a shadow in it. Went out and noticed the pool was the dirtiest i had ever seen it. Dropped the new filter in. Threw the vrx into the pool on smart cycle. Cola me out when it was done. Very surprised. Forgot to take a picture but the filter was filled about 2” wide by 1” tall of dirt. Like mud. Sprayed it clean and reran a cycle. Finally got the done silt it has been blowing around the pool for weeks which led me to buy the filter. Very fine dirt and sand picked up. I have both around my pool. Worth it. Seems sturdy but very fine mesh which could wear out or tear if not treated with care.

Amazing!!!!!
This filter is a must have if you don’t have regular pool service. It picks up any bit of dust powder dirt or algae at bottom of pool! Soooo thankful!!!! I use the regular filter that came with my vacuum for picking up big leaves and debris and then go behind a few times at least once a week with this filter and it will get any bit of fine dirt or fine particles from the shock that have fallen to the bottom of the pool, and it will make my pebbletec last longer Because I don’t have shocks sitting on the bottom of my pool

An essential extra that should probably be included
After initial cleanings with my 9550 I was somewhat disappointed by the amount of dirt still on the bottom of my pool. However I already new about this ultra-fine filter and had ordered it the day I got my device. On the first clean it picked up an amazing amount of silt that's so fine it looks like sludge. Even after two more cleans it was still picking it up. This is probably not surprising since my pool used to have a DE (diatomacous earth) filter that I ditched when the canister split, and I wanted to the lower maintenance, lower impact of a paper cartridge filter. I'm assuming a lot of the junk is actually DE particles that have been circulating in the system since then. Clearly this junk is still passing through the cartridge filter which probably explains why when I swept all the dirt to the main drain it would come right back the next day. So combined with regular cleanings using the Polaris ultra-fine filter I think I can a) remove the DE entirely, and b) keep the ultra-fine particles out in the future. Since one the reasons for using DE is to get rid of fine particles I'm confident this is combo of cartridge + robotic ultra-fine filtering is a good way to go. Obviously the robot won't filter 30,000 gallons a day but incrementally I think it will let me easily stay on top of particulates. I'm guessing that use of high pressure hose jets are probably responsible for a lot of the claims about the filter breaking or separating so I recommend a gentle spray from the outside to wash out dirt and then pick out any big bits that stick. There's really no need to blast it or scrub it. Also note if you pick up a lot of silt in your pool the filter will probably block quickly. You'll need to clean at least once per use if not more. The standard filter looks pretty fine but you'd be really surprised how much gets through it so all in all I'd say this ultra-fine filter is an essential add on for the Polaris cleaners. Given it probably only costs them $5 to make I think they should just included one in addition to the medium version as standard. While that loses them a bit of profit my guess is it would more than pay back the extra cost due to happier customers who get a very clean pool the first time and don't return it unsatisfied because they either didn't know about the other filters or didn't want to spend another $50+ or more for what they consider essential.

perfect replacement for our 9550
after the OEM basket blew the sides out and started clogging the impeller... it was time. these things aren't cheap, and using this for 1 summer it has held up ok. one of the seams began to fray (about a 2" section). it's not too bad, and was pretty easy to fix. worth the money, but not worth 5 stars

Works
Works better than the original basket. I just think it’s overpriced. But I can see how it will have the same problem coming unglued from the frame in the future.

Worth the Money!
We live in the desert southwest and when the wind blows (which is a lot, lately) it leaves a layer of fine silt on the bottom of our pool. The regular filter which came with the unit, would not capture the fine silt/dirt - it would just kick it around for it to re-settle. We were feeling disheartened after spending so much money on the Polaris vacuum itself, yet still had a dirty pool. But, this new ultra-fine sand/silt filter canister solved the problem! The bottom of the pool is now spotless! I will say, the unit runs slower with this canister - due to the less porous mesh of the filter the water flow is slower, but the slower running has not negatively affected the pool getting clean. This is our 2nd Polaris unit (9550 Sport). Our first (we inherited from former owners) needed new parts and power/cord which are - ouch! - expensive! We are taking cues from other reviewers - we try to only run it in the morning/shade; try to remove it immediately after it finishes and rinse with fresh water, and also keep it stowed out of the sun. Hoping that this will allow the unit to last a long time with parts not eaten from the sun/chemicals. All that said, we highly recommend this ultra fine sand/silt filter.

Fits fine, looks like it will work well. However, while I was waiting for it to arrive I tried using hot melt to repair the old one. Worked great, wish I’d tried that before ordering.

Polaris should definitely include the fine mesh filter with the robot. Much better than the standard filter and my pool is much clearer after using this filter as it captures fine particles.

I wished I had purchased this product years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time and work. Better still Polaris should equip their pool cleaners with this filter instead of the one that it comes with because it does a much better job.

I would vacuum my pool and there would be dirt left on the bottom, so I would run it again and still dirt was left behind. I purchased this basket and it really does do a great job. I run it once and the pool is spotless. It’s just so expensive.
