HYDE 19402 Professional Grout Saw, 2-Blade Design

Your local hardware store will have grout saws that are better than what you can get here.This grout saw's diamond saw blade is a bit too wide, if your grout lines are thinner in some places you'll damage your tiles instead. It also directional and only cuts in one direction, which is sometimes troublesome.The metal saw part is basically useless, it is also uni-directional and barely removes anything.I would not get this saw, as you can get much better ones at a local hardware store and for cheaper.

I have faced the nightmare of getting old grout out many times. Its been awful. Not with this product, it worked like a charm. It made the job of removeing the grout a breeze. I really wish I had had something like this in the past. One small thing that occured and thats the screws that hold the 2 blades together get loose. But thats not a big deal at all, you can use the tool fro quite awhile before that happens and then it only take mere seconds to tighten up wiht a phillips screw driver. I used other tools like this and even used a dremel with the special grout removal tool and after useing this grout saw I wouldnt use anything else. Im not all that talented when it comes to this kind of thing. In the past I have caused so much damage to the tiles themselves that it would most likely have been far more cost effective to get someone else to remove the grout.When I was finished removeing the grout from the bathroom floor I had left just one small scratch in a tile where i had slipped using the tool, and I was done in no time at all. This is a good tool for this kind of a job. I dont have a single thing to say thats bad about it. The angle of the handle makes it easier to hold and I had no wrist strain when I was finished

Yes, that ever enjoyable past time that all homeowners have to endure is grouting. No sooner have you been a homeowner for 5 to 10 years and you have to recaulk your bathroom or kitchen. Sometimes you have to do some regrouting work.What is the difference between grouting and caulking anyway?Caulking: silicone or some other flexible subtance that is placed to seal dissimilar materials, like tile and countertop, or between two tiled surfaces that meet on a different plane (a corner edge on a bathroom). Caulking is flexible and easy to remove with chemical means or caulk remover. 3M 2153DC-NA Caulk Remover  or  Homax 5855-06 Caulk Remover Tool .Grouting: Grout is that hard stuff that goes on between your tiles. It's hard. It's tough. It is a bear to remove without a grout saw like this one.This product comes with two blades.- Some kind of Zinc Oxide superblade to cut through the grout- A steel serrated blade to clean out the grout lane- You can use both blades together for wide grout lanesNote: you don't get extra blades but after doing a few lanes on my bathroom, the blades on this saw look brand new. If you're a professional, all bets are off but for the lay home person -- I think these will last.I do recommend you put on some kind of eye protection. But other than that, get this and go to town. It's not hard but it will take some time and you might be a bit tired after doing a few lines on your bathroom.You can use this also to saw out the grout between a broken tile for tile replacement.I highly recommend against chiseling grout out -- the likelihood of breaking a tile is pretty high.
