Can this be put under the seat on an airplane?

Yes. I took it on Southwest and it fits perfectly even when stuffed full with room to spare under the seat. It’s also very comfortable to wear surprisingly so.

Will it fit a 16 inch MacBook Pro?

We returned the backpack due to the very narrow and tight margins. Very tight fit. No way to put a narrow water bottle on the side either.

Is this waterproof? Or at least water resistant?

Hello, yes the material seems to be water resistant. I accidently spilled coffee on it the day I purchased it but it didn't stain it or penitrate the bag. I love all the compartments, the look and feel of the bag. Well worth the money.
