Fun read from "the discoverer" of the cube
Earlier this year I finally learned to solve the cube at age 40 after a lifelong fascination with this object. I was curious about the guy that invented it, so I picked up this book. For a guy that admits hating writing he did a pretty good job at telling his life story, as well as the cube's story. Erno has already covered all the self-criticisms and insecurities that he faced when publishing the book. It reads as if you run into a 76-year-old intellectual gentleman in a Hungarian road side cafe, and he starts blessing you with all of his life learnings. In addition to the process Erno went through to "discover" the cube, we get a lot of random thoughts. Erno insists that he didn't invent the cube, because it always existed in some form, he just "discovered" it and made it accessible to the world. The random stuff is also a mixed bag. We get a lot of quotes and anecdotes from Erno's life. Some of Erno's mental lists make it into the book, like great things that come in 3s. That was fun! He dabbles a lot in philosophy and life’s meaning. He talks about his relationship to money, desire, success, fame, his home, and family. He talks a about architectural philosophy. I enjoyed these lighthearted insights in all these topics. Sounds like a life well-lived!All in all, it was a pleasure getting to know Erno Rubik and his story through this book. His contribution to the world has been significant. I would advise this book to all the cubers that are curious by nature.

Great story from the creator of the Rubik's Cube
If you are a cube fan, then this is absolutely for you. You get the real story behind the cube from his creator Erno Rubik. What a lucky time to get the story from this Hungarian living legend.

A very insightful book
The creator of the Cube writes from a very wise perspective and covers many brilliant aspects of what the Cube embodies. I loved reading about his creative process too.
