Trivium: The Classical Liberal Arts of Grammar, Logic, & Rhetoric (Wooden Books, 4) Review: Wish I had this as a Kid - If I had had this book when I was growing up, I'd probably have enjoyed writing. It's really enjoyable and informative to read. Review: Is this as good as the old book? - I would not know how to evaluate whether or not the method of grammar, logic, and rhetoric is as good as it was during the enlightenment. But this is the same style thinking as the enlightenment and it shows. I wish the logic part was expounded upon. The topic deserves more recognition as a window into the divine.

The Absolute Best Bathroom Reader
Are you something of a nerd or maybe just curious about everything under the sun? Every short subject in this book is condensed into one or two pages with great illustrations and facts you never knew you wanted to know until you read them. Look at the Table of Contents. This is really good stuff if you use your brain for more than following the Kardashians or watching sports all weekend. This is a couple of minutes of great info compacted into digestible chunks and delivered while you are sitting doing nothing. (Put down your phone!) I read and reread some things that I want to brush up on. Someone did a really good job of compiling all this wisdom, beauty and logic.

People really don't seem to know how to argue effectively. This book gives you the tools to do so.

packed full of interesting things.
This is a neat little book, packed full of interesting things that most people can easily relate to. It is a nice size book to hold and that is good. The print is slightly smaller that I would wish for. I just need to have my glasses handy to read the book. The book has an attractive cover.

An easy read
The book covers the subjects in a short and concise way that fosters a desire to read the material in 1 sitting and look for works that go deeper into the subject.

A very short and concise book, it covers six topics: 1. Euphonics (how alphabets sound to a poet?) 2. Grammar 3. Poetic meter 4. Logic 5. Rhetoric (or how to make a point in speaking or writing) 6. Ethics Of these, I particularly liked 2, 4, 5 and 6. These 'chapters' are actually reproductions of slim books available separately (cheaper to buy them together in this binding). Each section is written quite cellars, and serves as good reference / revision if you are already familiar with the matter. If not, it gives you a basic foundation, though it may require careful and focused reading. All the chapters are illustrated in a rather fun way. The writing style is also non-pedantic. Though the book is presented as a classic, the treatment of topics is quite modern and up to date. The binding is rather good - though I found the book a little heavy due to the good quality paper that's been used. The only complaint I have is that the publishers have had a bit too much fun playing around with fonts and typefaces. This can get a little distracting as multiple fonts on the same page make it look cluttered. Some font choices are rather wacky - e.g. a dripping font used for fallacies. Excellent value for money - definitely a book to keep in your collection or to gift to a friend.
