the kind you sip on all day long
The drink tastes lightly lime / strawberry and a bit starchy.> After some effort stirring I used a frother, which had to be on highto move the glue like glob, and then it stuck in the frother. It doesn't stir up - it's sticky and settles in the bottom. The product has two ingredients Maltodextrin 57%- Fructose 42% and a little flavoringwhich is why it's a quick sourer of energy.> Maltodextrin is produced from vegetable starch sugar used as a food additive. It's vegan - easily digestible and aborted as quick as glucose. The body can digest it quickly to get fuel for muscleswhich is why companies use it in large quantities in energy and sports drinks.>>> BUT research has suggested it may effect the balance of bacteria in the gut. It's thought to reduce the good bacteria and increase bad bacteria.> Fructose (unlike glucose) causes a low rise of blood sugar levels and is considera safe sweetener for people with type 2 diabetes.> Fructose = one gram contains 4 calories which is the same amountas table sugar and sucrose.>>> Although these are common ingredients in energy drinks -this is a type that you sip on all day long to keep continued endurance.> Had that information been shown in the product info I would have passed on this.I'm more a fan of energy shots - good tasting powders - Ginseng - etc.>>> DIRECTIONS - one packet = which is approx NINE TABLESPOONS of powder.in TWENTY ounces of water.

Not all that impressed with the taste; hard to mix
I'm not all that impressed with this "energy" drink. It consists of just three ingredients: maltodextrin, fructose and flavoring. It's a sip a bit at a time type of drink rather than a chug it down energy drink. The taste doesn't appeal all that much. I got the "Red Berry" version and it's sort of berry-ish and fruit-ish in flavor, but it has this artificial taste that doesn't agree with me. It's certainly drinkable, but no worries about drinking it all in a single go -- a sip or two is about all I can handle at a time. It's a powder that comes in individual serve pouches that you mix with water. Well, at least try to mix. This doesn't dissolve all that readily, so be sure to put it in a container you can shake (or use a blender). I'm not sure if it's due to the powder composition or just the quantity, since the pouches have quite a bit of powder in them. Each pouch provides 320 calories, 80g of carbs and 45g of added sugar. It comes in nice packaging (an all-black box that can be used as a dispenser for the pouches). It is made in the U.K. The shelf life is pretty good, with the box I received in March 2022 listing an expiration date of May 2023.While this does have a unique formulation compared with other energy boosters, the combination of a high price plus less than ideal taste/ease of mixing puts my score at 3 stars. It's not something I would get again even in a different flavor.

It's Just Sugar
Mixed according to the instructions, this is a lightly flavored, and sickeningly sweet light syrup - it could really do with some sort of acid to add some intensity to the flavor. It's thick, takes a while to dissolve and just not a convenient way to eat what is basically candy. Don't try mixing it with ice in the drink, it won't dissolve until all the ice melts anyways. This is a packet of 1:0.8 ratio Maltodextrin and Fructose... with some flavoring. It's just sugar. Maltodextrin is similar to glucose (half of what's in normal sugar) in that it's primarily metabolized in the blood stream... but is higher on the glycemic index. What this means, is it will provide more of the sugar rush than glucose.Fructose is the other half of Sucrose (normal sugar) and is first metabolized by the liver before being introduced to the blood stream for energy. This will provide a bit more of a gradual blood sugar bump later on.I guess the idea is to have two spikes of blood-sugar energy... but for $45? Just use sugar. Really. The difference will be minimal.I ordered this March 2022, and it's marked to expire in May 2023, which seems awfully short for being sugar. Made in the UK.

Check out the science first, but a good product...
I highly recommend doing research into the science behind ANY kind of supplement before purchase & consumption, as a general rule. That being said, this is just my opinion on the energy drink and your results are likely to be different from mine. The science behind this sort of product is solid: multiple sources of quick energy for your body, crammed into as small a package as scientists can manage. On that front, this product really is a good buy, especially if you're capable of putting out hundreds of calories over a few hours. Runners, swimmers, and extreme athletes are no strangers to putting out 500 calories; in general, weightlifters and more casual athletes won't see as much benefit from this product. That being said, there really isn't a downside to this product; it's quick energy and comes in at 320 calories per serving. Empty calories for anyone not burning them off...Overall, this is a solid product and I'd recommend it for its targeted demographic! Good flavor, mixes well, you can't go wrong!
