Black & Decker G850 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder

This angle grinder has held up to some abuse.Note: Do not do the following unless you have experience with this power tool, or else injury could occur!After removing the guard. I was able to run this with an 8" x 3/8" grinding disk. I could really dig it into the1/2" bolts I was grinding. I was making a shower of sparks off some steel plates with it for 25 minutes nonstop, and the motor hardly got warm.I also used a 7" x 1/8" thick cutoff disk, and was able to run that through a solid 2"x3"x3" block of billet aluminum without a problem in about 30 seconds. Not as fast as a band saw, but much more portable and versatile.If you get disks with a 5/8" hole, you'll need to get or make a spacer for it to hold the disk securely. I bored out a washer to the right ID for this. Obviously if you get 5/8-11 screw on disk this isn't an issue. Most disks I use are Harbor Freight, thus very cheap.

Got sharpening to do? Want to remove some metal? I can't say whether or not this would make a good every-day tool for the professional but over 2+ years it has performed beyond expectations in my applications. Grinds my blades easier and quicker than my bench grinder.

My husband uses it often. No complaints.

Just got this grinder, and I am building a homemade 18 ft. car hauling trailer. Was waiting for this to come in, and when it arrived, I put it to some heavy duty use for about four straight hr's. This grinder handles great, with good balance, and a lot of speed to go along with it. I would recomend this for anyone that needs to do some heavy, or light grinding.Be sure to have a good set of goggle's and gloves when useing this grinder, it puts out a lot of sparks, and metal shaveings when in use........ BE SAFE.......

The Black and Decker G850 is a breeze to use. I needed a grinder for a project and spent more time then I should have looking for one at a good price and that would meet my needs. I actually took a chance on this grinder. I have used other small angle grinders at work,,but this one was much easier to handle. I could grip it at the center,,near the top or about anywhere and the balance was great. Sure makes it easy on the arms. I also like the area were the switch is at, toward the rear, under the handle.
