How does it work on gray hair

Since it's peroxide-based, it's probably going to turn it more of a blondish or strawberry blonde. Mine is a bit mixed but still mostly brownish, but it does seem to be changing the silvery hairs more of a blondish tone. If your hair color is mixed, you'll like the results, but if it's solid gray, I'd try a light misting and work it in ONCE, and see what happens.
