Garlic Keeper, Terra Cotta

I just opened my terracotta garlic keeper - replacing my previous one that broke (my careless fault) last week after years of use. The outside surface is smooth and flawless, meaning no scratches/cuts or bubble dimples or chips or dried globs or discoloration. The inside surface and rim opening are NOT jagged with sharp globs of clay whereby a finger could be cut. There IS small, insignificant jaggedness around the 6-holes (3 front, 3 back) on the inside, but the holes are so low on the keeper that it should not be an issue for fingers...or the garlic bulbs for that matter. I know that well for I scrubbed every inch of the inside (and outside) with my fingers. No cuts or pain! There is no funky scent coming from the clay even when wet. This garlic keeper appears to be able to hold possibly 3 fairly large, garlic bulbs loosely; perhaps 4 bulbs with a more "packed" space. The actual rim opening is exactly 6cm (approx. 2 3/8") in diameter. The keeper sits level and does not rock. It looks highly symmetrical. Plus, GARLIC is spelled correctly!!! Ha! You never know these days!!! Ha! The lid fits just as a clay garlic keeper lid should fit, not snug and with no seeable gaps. The clay color is indeed more brownish-red than pinkish-orange. If you owned a clay garlic keeper in years past, don't expect the same wall thickness. This one is thinner than the one I had for years. A sign of the times! Even so, this keeper feels sturdy enough, just not as heavy as the one I had which was also smaller than this one. Overall, this is a good product (at least the one I received) and I recommend it.

Cure jar for my hoard of garlic. I always buy too much garlic and inevitably some of the garlic heads start to sprout or dry out. This jar is a great solution! Not only does it look great on the counter, but it keeps the garlic out of the sun and air without keeping the moisture in and causing it to get mushy. Happy with this!

Cutest little terra-cotta garlic keeper. Perfect for solo person using occasional garlic. The keeper is SMALL. Really ideal for small kitchens with limited storage space for spices. Please keep in mind so you will not be disappointed. Will hold at maximum 3 regular size bulbs will hold 2 large bulbs. Not ideal for heavy garlic cooks. it will work for occasional garlic users, this little keeper is ideal.

I have never had garlic go moldy on me. I usually keep it in the plastic bag in a cupboard and it is always great, might grow a shoot if I leave it too long. I decided to be more cool and get a little garlic pot and found this one. It looks great! But two times now I've stored garlic in the pot to find it moldy about a week or so later! The pot hasn't been wet, the garlic hasn't been wet. So... not sure if I love this.

Estou usando como porta alho. Gostei muito. O manuseio deve ser com cuidado, o material eh delicado. Ficou lindinho na minha bancada. Chegou bem embalado, no prazo.

This garlic keeper is the best. I was always having a problem with my garlic sprouting before I could use the whole clove. I kept it I. The dark in a a breathable bag but it still sprouted in fact it did not matter what I used, a few weeks after purchase, it was off and growing. I finally gave up and decided it was cheaper to probably buy the correct storage vessel than keep throwing away sprouted garlic. I was right, this item keeps my cloves perfectly even months after purchase, it also looks good. Garlic has become quite expensive, and I like to buy it when on sale, so I can now do so, without worrying about keeping it.
