Gives the fuel needed for long rides.
I use it to fuel the last couple hours on long bicycle rides and provides de extra boost after you got lot of miles on your legs.

Worst of the Flavors
I tried two other flavors of this light syrup mix, and this is the worst. There's no acid in the mix, so the "Orange" flavor is just sickeningly sweet. The flavoring is still definitely orange, but with no sour it's just wrong. It's thick, takes a while to dissolve and just not a convenient way to eat what is basically candy. Don't try mixing it with ice in the drink, it won't dissolve until all the ice melts anyways. This is a packet of 1:0.8 ratio Maltodextrin and Fructose... with some flavoring. It's just sugar. Maltodextrin is similar to glucose (half of what's in normal sugar) in that it's primarily metabolized in the blood stream... but is higher on the glycemic index. What this means, is it will provide more of the sugar rush than glucose.Fructose is the other half of Sucrose (normal sugar) and is first metabolized by the liver before being introduced to the blood stream for energy. This will provide a bit more of a gradual blood sugar bump later on.I guess the idea is to have two spikes of blood-sugar energy... but for $45? Just use sugar. Really. The difference will be minimal.I ordered this March 2022, and it's marked to expire in May 2023, which seems awfully short for being sugar. Made in the UK.

OK Taste, Acrually Has Some Calories To Help Provide Energy, Expensive
It seems like one of the trends in energy drinks and powders is to make them low or no calorie. The thing is when you've been out exercising hard, the body needs more than hydration. You can just drink water if you need to get re-hydrated and chances are that will do the trick. When you are out burning calories you need to get hydrated and some calories. This drink mix comes in a much bigger envelope than a lot of "energy powders" because there is actually something in it. It's got close to 300 calories per packet. To me, this makes a lot more sense than trying to get to zero calories because you need to refuel your body and not just hydrate it.I got the orange flavor of these things. It's a very light orange flavor. I wouldn't call it yummy but it is OK, about average for an energy drink or energy drink mix. It dissolves fairly well when shaken in a water bottle but not completely.Overall, this is a good product that tastes OK but not great. It actually has some calories in it which I think is a GOOD thing compared to so many others that try to get to zero calories with a bunch of fake sweeteners. It's on the expensive side so may or may not be worth it depending on what you are looking for.

Expensive! But enjoyable and effective
Okay, sticker shock on this one. At $3 per packet, it's expensive. My other fuel options are noticeably cheaper, so that's going to deter me from buying this again. But I have been pleased with it. In terms of taste, the orange flavor is mild and pleasant. it seems to dissolve pretty well, with minimal residue or graininess. I think it's also notable that this isn't an electrolyte solution, as it has only .01g of salt. So this isn't a full recharge/replenish solution, but specifically a fuel. That too will point me toward the gels that I more typically use, which have electrolytes to help sustain me for longer runs. Another thing I'll note is that the packets are a somewhat awkward size. They're sized to mix with 600 mL of water. But I don't carry that much. So I've basically needed to use a half serving for my on-board water bottle. But maybe you carry 20 oz of water with you (if so, that would point toward this being a better fit). On the upside, that does halve the price for me, since I get two uses out of a packet. I think I'll end up using this in conjunction with gels, so that I can get both fuel and electrolytes for endurance events, particularly long runs.

45 grams of sugar?!
My husband and I love the Science In Sport brand of energy gels and supplements - I actually have their Isotonic Energy Gels on Subscribe & Save because they're low sugar and conveniently-sized for bicycling. When I ordered these Beta Fuel energy drink packets I did not see any nutritional information listed on the product page (at the time of this writing, there IS now a single image of a nutritional label at the very end of the product image gallery - it is not easy to find or very transparent IMO). So I was unaware that a single packet contains 45 grams of sugar! Now, you're supposed to mix that with 600ml of water and drink it slowly throughout the day - but it's still SO much sugar! Plus for bike-riding, that means carrying an additional water bottle - one just for water (because we consume FAR more than 600ml, or about 20oz over a full day of riding), and one for the energy drink mix.I love SiS, but I think I will stick to their far more convenient energy gels.

Great tasting energy drink!
Initial thoughts I was not too impressed when mixing this into 600ml of water, I found it hard to fully mix and usually ended up with big clumps, the drink (once mixed) has a great mild orange taste that's not overwhelming, and left no aftertaste (tastes similar to the HI-C drink), the product had a year in advance expiration date, which is nice. One Sachet provides 80g Carbohydrate, 320 Calories and 45g of Sugar, this product gives a real super boost when added to a water bottle or water reservoir since it provides a consistent energy level as you drink it, giving plenty of energy needed for a long day of extreme endurance sports (like running, biking, swimming...etc.).Overall I like these powdered energy drinks, it has 3 ingredients (Maltodextrin & Fructose, Flavorings), I also love that this drink agrees with me well and causes no GI discomfort, this is one of my favorite SIS products, with Chews second, and the Gels last,Cons: The cost, Hard to mix properly.
