This Horn is so beautiful, I definitely recommend buying one
This Horn is so beautiful, I definitely recommend buying one. After browsing drinking horns from different makers, I felt the Thor Horn was the best; quality, customer service, and price wise. Mine stands at 13 inches.I bought this as a gift, early enough in case there were any issues, and there were none, at least none that required a return. The reviews had me concerned about a horrible smell, hence me buying so early before Christmas, but the horn I received has no noticeable smell, the bag however, has a very strong earthy scent, it absolutely did not come from the horn itself; unless it was somehow completely transferred from horn to bag? So I aired it out for a week and the smell is gone.As these are handmade, there are a couple of tiny flaws. In one picture I show the inside of the horn, aside from the dust, to the left there are a series of small nicks, which I don't believe will not cause any issues if being used to drink from. The other picture shows two whitish inch-long lines, where it either missed getting polished, or something struck it and scraped the polish off. It is not visible if the horn is in the stand. Also, the stand doesn't really match the horn, but I'm fine with that.I'm highly tempted to buy one for myself as a display piece, it's definitely unique as no two are the same.

very good for the price!
Many people complained about a foul odor. Mine arrived with no bad odor at all, and i drank my first beer after having only rinsed it out. I did notice a slightly unpleasant odor come on as I continued to use it, but it was never terrible. One must understand that horns are natural, and as with all natural products, there will always be variations in color, size and too, aroma.Workmanship was fairly good. I read where some complained about the metallic rim was loose. Mine was seated pretty well, and does not seem that it will come off soon. The stand was also OK. It can tip over very easily, though.Claims to hold 20 oz. I doubt that. I will have to measure how much it will hold and will come back. My 16oz beer in the photo foamed up too much and I had to drink a little before pouring the rest. All told, for the price, i have no complaints. Also for the price, I think it will be normal to get horns with the problems mentioned above, and in previous reviews, but ***it seems*** that the company is willing to stand behind their product and replace it if it stinks, or arrives broken, etc. For my part, I do not have to try.Drink up and Skรฅl!*although... im not Scandinavian, and drinking horns were also popular in Germany, so Prost!!

What an awesome product!!
Recently I purchased a 20 oz. Drinking horn with stand. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Not only is it a great conversation starter, but itโs an awesome decorative piece I keep in my workshop. Everyone that come in loves it, and they always ask about it. Not long ago I had a few of my buddies come over for burgers and beers. And I used my Drinking horn. Everyone of them asked where I got it. My 30th Birthday is coming up at the end of the month. Bon Fire Viking party on the Mountain, and you better believe that Horn will be in my hand or on my hip the entire time! Will definitely be ordering more as gifts for my dudes. LOVE IT!

Bought this for my brother for his birthday. He enjoyed the horn and thought it was a great present!

Fantastic drinking horn!
This drinking horn is great. Very well made, stand is sturdy and great for display. I loved the gray/black color of the horn I received. I gave this to a friend for a secret santa get together and he loved it so much he began to drink out of it instantly and for the rest of the night. The recurring negative comments center around the uneven brass circle around the horn's opening as well as the smell of the horn. I'd like to address both of these as I see no merit in these critiques. First, the brass ring cannot be perfectly circular as ox horns do not grow perfectly circular. The ring is adjusted to fit the horn's natural shape. I prefer the original material to be tampered with and altered as little as possible so this wasn't an issue for me. Next and most importantly, the smell. Yes, the horn smelled pretty rank when I received it. What do you expect? It was part of a living organism at one point. Using dish detergent and cold water, I washed and rinsed the horn several times, then set it near an open window overnight. The smell almost completely disappeared and I expect after several uses it will diminish entirely. This is a great product, perfect for a gift or a display piece and I will most likely be ordering another for myself in the near future.

Looks nice, but has issues you should consider
The horn looks attractive. I thought I ordered the "raw" unpolished one but I got the polished. The stand holds it fine, no balance issues when full or empty. My two main complaints are this:It stinks. Even after washing it still smells unpleasant. This distracts from your drink. The metal band at the lip is polished, but still raw metal (not sealed). This gives a very strong metallic taste that lingers on your lips. This seems to fade a bit with watching but has yet to go away.It would seem a full food grade sealant would have alleviated both issues.I have a horn from their competitor and it's fully sealed and is a very good product. For the few dollars more I would probably stick with that brand from now on.If they see this and reply that perhaps this was a lesser quality than they normally sell and are willing to do something about it, I wouldn't mind giving them another chance. A company that stands behind a product means they are willing to take care of customers. I admit that maybe this was one that slipped through QA and not their normal fare.

For the true Viking at heart!
I recently decided to go all out embracing my Viking heritage (my grandmother is full Scandinavian) and have studied the myths and lore of the Gods, read and learned their runes, am in the process of learning the old language and have purchased a few things here and there, including a รgishjรกlmr rune necklace my wife got me, and one other drinking horn.Let me just simply say this horn is epic. While each one will be slightly different in size and color, the one I received is almost completely jet black, standing about 15" tall while in its stand and 13 1/2" from tip to tip.The brass lip seems sturdy and well fitted, as well as it is stable in its stand evem while filled all the way to the brim.Mine holds one swig away from 2 full 12oz cans if you are holding it upright and 1 1/2 if it is in it's stand (since it leans a little bit.)It does have only the faintest hint of an animal smell to it, but that wears off with time - or you could put it in a large ziplock with a bunch of baking soda to help speed up the process. Avoid vinegar as some people suggest as vinegar will break down bone (and as such, the horn) and can cause leaks.)My only issue is that (the one I recieved anyway) came with the tiniest bubbles in the lacquer on the inside, but this isn't something to get all worked up over. All in all this is a great product for a hell of a price! A must have for the modern Viking!

Great Gift!
Bought it for a Father's Day present. He really loves it and it now has a perminate spot in the living room.

Can't drink from it, not sanitary surface
Frist idea was that when you look at cups they are smooth internal surfaces, these horns do not and they smell questionable. The rim has a metal rusting coating where along the edge you cannot clean, many area's for bacteria to fester. Cheaply made as I think I got a counterfit one.

Ordered 20oz drinking horn, received an 8oz drinking horn
Showed up really quick. The thing was less than half the size it was supposed to be. Was supposed to be 20oz and is 8oz. The ring at the top is horribly made and put on the horn extremely bad. Don't buy unless you don't want what you pay for
User
Didn't get it
I ordered this cup so many months ago says it arrived and I been trying to contact the seller for a replacement or refund and still nothing
