The Apostles' Creed for Today

The book is being used for a class. It was in excellent condition and arrive when predicted. Very satisfied with the service.

A group of ten adults is reading and discussing this book on Sunday nights. There are some in the group who are much more intelligent and learned on the background of the historical context than I. I trust them when they say that this is a great book from a great author to study. However, it is not light reading. I would probably not get from the book what I am getting from just reading it by myself. It is a great study book.

My church small group is using this wonderful book as our first study book this fall. Though we have just begun, we find the questions at the end of each chapter help us to focus not only on our reading, but also on our group discussion. We look forward to considering more of the "For Today" series in future studies.

This book provides great into The Apostles’ Creed. The historical context informs the readers understanding of the creed and its necessity during this period in history and as well as today.

This is a great book on the Apostle's Creed! Its more in depth than Adam Hamilton's book on the creed (which is a good study material as well), but it is also accessible to the non-academic. But then that shouldn't be surprising because that's the way that Gonzalez writes.

Very informative about the historical basis of each phrase and sub-phase of the ancient creed. A few interpretations are a little stretch; but Gonzalez never gets dogmatic and he encourages the reader to be comfortable in his or her beliefs versus the elements of belief expressed in the creed itself.

This well written book is excellent to use as a group study/discussion guide. The writing is clear and exhibits clarity and accuracy. I am acquainted with some other works by this author and can highly recommend his writing.
