Well that was easy
While replacing a battery on my V6 -SV04 last week I followed a YouTube video and dismantled most of the vacuum for the experience, so I had a good idea on how to install this filter cover. When I discovered the old filter over the exhaust the original sponge donut (filter) was reduced to mush and pieces fell out. A strange looking snap-on paper filter came with the new battery, but it didn’t go to my old Dyson I had gotten at Costco 10 years ago. I googled for an upgrade that might allow the filter to attach to my V6 vacuum and saw this one on Amazon. Great price and they have replacements for about every part, motors and all. You priced a new Dyson lately? This took me about 15 minutes to upgrade. What an impressive (metal) pry tool they included. NICE! I’ll be using that on future electric repairs. I removed the battery first and went slow so not to break any plastic. The pry tool made it easier for sure. Wish I had known this upgrade for an old V6 stick vacuum was available before now. I’ve got more suction too. Good YouTube videos to assist with this.

Great fit, no more smell
Follow the instructions and use the tool and you'll have cleaner smelling air come out from your Dyson. This filter fits our V6 nice and snug.

Great replacement
Easy to install. Works great. I do suggest getting the bundle of the new hepa filter with the Motor Rear Cover as they fit eachother well. The old hepa filter is a bit looser on the new motor cover.

Yay – My Dyson V6 now has an easily replaceable HEPA filter!
As another reviewer stated, it probably isn’t necessary to remove the cyclone to complete this retro-fit. Even with the included tool, I found that the cyclone was impossible to remove without breaking and I ended up breaking off a piece of the plastic ☹. The good news is that I was able to successfully reattach the cyclone during reassembly despite the small piece of plastic that broke. The rear handle/motor cover was also a bit difficult in getting it to do that initial “pop” but once it happened it was fairly easy to use the little included crowbar tool to fully remove the rear motor cover. Perhaps the difficulties I experienced with disassembly is because this V6 vacuum is over 8.5 years old? Better yet, it’s probably because Dyson doesn’t want you to be able to fully clean their vacuums with a goal towards long-term use (instead they would prefer it be more of a “disposable” appliance so you have to fork out hundreds more $$ for a new one). Anyhoo - I am flabbergasted Dyson thought the original flimsy piece of sponge pad that was in the rear motor cover would hold up for any length of time. One touch of this sponge and it just disintegrated. This vacuum should have had the ability to easily replace this filter from the get-go. I got everything put back together with the new upgraded rear motor cover (which took a bit of wiggling to get the battery lined up and screwed back in) and attached the new HEPA post filter. The vacuum is working great on both Regular and MAX modes. Apparently, that old sponge pad filter was restricting suction/airflow more than I realized. I re-vacuumed an area I had just done the day before with this same V6 (before upgrade) and was amazed at how much more the vacuum picked up (after the upgrade). I’m happy I came across this listing to upgrade the V6. Overall, it’s been a good experience and I’m looking forward to using the upgraded V6 vacuum for many more years to come. I’ll update this review should anything change in the functioning of the upgraded vacuum.

Dyson Upgrade
A great upgrade for the older Dyson handheld vacuum cleaners. Replaces the foam filters with a cartridge type filter. Simple replacement of the rear cover to accommodate the cartridge type filter.

Necessary and worth it for the Dyson V6
Worth it. The Dyson V6 handheld cost a small fortune and didn’t come with a post motor filter, at some point the cheap sponge at the back gets too gunked up and this vacuum blows its air out on your face. This adds the missing hepa filter to prevent that and gets rid of the old should have been disposable post motor filter. Add to this that they included the free tool that helps remove the cyclone chamber so that can be washed separately and it’s like a whole new vacuum again.

Few modern filter!
Seemed like a good idea when I saw it but when I took the vacuum apart to install I found that the original filter wasn’t in bad shape at all. Oh well. It works great now with the new battery I also installed.
