My Book of Little House Paper Dolls: The Big Woods Collection

I purchased this when I read the Little House I. The Big Woods to my young children last year. The enjoyed the experience of playing while listening to Laura's adventures. They still pull it out now to play with and the paper dolls and set have held up well. They don't play with it daily or anything, but maybe every few months it will get some heavy attention for a few days before they move on to some other interest. The clothes fit very exactly to the figures, so I recommend an adult cut out the pieces. Their isn't any perforation, so make sure your scissors are comfortable. It took me a few days to get everything cut out. There are a lot of pieces included and the attention to detail is appreciated. Reading along the story, the kids were able to notice parts brought into the paper dolls and furnishings. It's so much fun and I highly recommend.

My granddaughters, 4 and 7 have had such a wonderful time playing with these paper dolls. I had quite of bit of cutting to do but it’s been worth it. I think they love this more than an expensive dollhouse. So much scope for the imagination. I have been reading My First Little House books to them for several years so they were familiar with the characters.

This is a lovely product! I would say for ages 5-11 depending what level of fine motor skills your child has developed. The dolls require lots of cutting out before they can be played with. But it is a really neat, big set of dolls. I love the stands that come with the dolls so they can stand by themselves. Any little girl into Laura Ingalls would love this adorable, sturdy and affordable product!

We’re a homeschool family and love Little House! I bought these for my daughter but immediately noticed they’d probably end up torn, and they’re so precious and nice quality that I wanted to preserve them through many hours of play! I got out my little 9” laminator and several 3 mil 8.9x11.4” thermal laminating pouches (both Scotch brand, purchased on sale), sharp precision scissors, and small (1/2 inch) Velcro dots (I used white but clear would be most inconspicuous). It was a bit tedious to cut out all the pieces (including cutting off the fold back flaps since they’re not necessary), laminate them, and cut them out again with a sealed margin (paying attention to not having sharp corners for little fingers). After they were cut out, I used the Velcro dots with two hook/“scratchy side” dots on each character’s torso, then placed the loop dots over the attached hook dots and aligned the outfits where they should be, and then pressed down to finally let the adhesive of the loop dots stick to the outfits. Then removed the outfit with the loop dots, and again placed two fresh loop dots on the hook dots to attach the next outfit. Pa, Ma, and Baby Carrie each have two outfits, and Laura and Mary have several each. My daughter is happy with her new toy and I can see it lasting for years!

I bought this for my five-year-old daughter who loves all things Little House and all things paper dolls. She also loves all things having to do with scissors, which is a pretty key ingredient for this paper doll set. The dolls themselves do punch out but there is a LOT of cutting involved in getting the rest cut out. I wouldn't recommend this for a child who isn't old enough to cut things out very well or for a parent who doesn't want to take the time to cut it all out themselves! It was perfect for my girl, though. And we have really appreciated that the outfits included here are the same ones pictured in the "My First Little House" books. Ma's dress looks like the one she wore in "Dance at Grandpa's," that kind of thing. My daughter really enjoyed being able to go through and see which outfits the Ingalls family is wearing in which of the books. Everything is good quality and I am somewhat surprised by the low price of this after we've played with it for a good amount of time. I would definitely recommend this over the Melissa & Doug magnetic "paper" dolls; my daughter certainly likes them much better. I will note that we decided to laminate the dolls so they would last longer, and that has worked well. We didn't laminate the clothes, as we wanted the tabs to be able to bend, so it is a little more awkward to dress the dolls in the various outfits, but it's still doable. I have these on my shopping list for other girls in the future. This makes a sweet gift all by itself.

We just got this for our daughter for Christmas. There is a lot of cutting but the set is high quality and I appreciate all the details. The two odd things I noticed is that Mary’s dress didn’t fit over her shoulders due to her hair. I had to make a cut in the doll to get the dress tabs to fold. Also the set mentions the ability to insert a “night” window but that doesn’t seem possible without tape.

I strongly recommend this as a pathway to invite your daughter/granddaughter into the world of good literature. My 9-year-old granddaughter loved it! She went for the companion book without any prompting.

These are awesome. My granddaughter just finished reading Little House in the Big Woods and used these for a character introductions presentation. The backdrop provided is lovely and really enhanced her assignment and understanding of the setting.

The most gorgeous book for any children who love the Little House series

I had these as a child and was so excited to find these for my own girls. They had so much fun playing with the dolls and they’re so easy to store away.

My little girl and I have had great fun with this, we cut out pieces together as some are a bit fiddly. It has a good variety of clothes etc to play with, we used a cardboard box to make a house to go with the ingles family. We have had hours of fun with it.
