does this work if i dont have any corraline algae yet?

I did not have any obvious coraline algae and used it once. I had a huge mess as the green algae bloomed everywhere. I changed the water and cleaned the filter adjusted the lighting timing and the next morning the algae bloomed in an overabundance. It took 3 water changes and 4 filter cleanings to get it under control. I threw it away but your experience may be different.

Will this harm invertebrates?

Nope, not at all. Just check your levels (you should do this anyway). Been using this stuff for years! Good for any hard corals and coco worms too. Makes everything nice n pink n purpley!
