For a single 12 oz serving of coffee, the Ovente is a great little french press..I especially like that it is sturdy glass..not hard plastic! - A lot of large glass french press carafes are easily broken..not this one! - much thicker glass keeps this carafe from easy breakage. - Flavor of coffee is excellent out of this press! Only one problem that I see. - The screen that filters out the coffee grounds is a bit wiggy...They supply an extra one w/ your purchase but because these screens are relatively small, the don't act in the same fashion as screens on bigger French Presses.

Perfect size, easy to use!

I purchased three of these: one to replace my Bodum (which was beginning to wear out and was not properly filtering the grounds); and two additional presses to give to some friends who, after tasting my coffee brewed in a French press, raved at the fantastic flavor. The Ovente does an excellent job, overall, and is considerably cheaper than most. The mesh filter is finer and softer than the Bodum and, consequently, does a very good job of preventing the coffee grounds from passing through to your cup. It is also very light and ergonomically comfortable to handle. Nonetheless, I believe the design could be improved by NOT gluing the glass beaker to the plastic holder. If the beaker were removable, it would be much easier to wash it, either by hand or in the dishwasher.My biggest complaint, however, is that of the three I ordered, two arrived with manufacturing defects. The base of one of the glass beakers was shattered; and the beaker of another was glued in such a manner that the pouring "spout" was out of alignment and poured off to one side. It was obvious that the defects did not occur in transit (both items were well-packed in their own individual boxes in addition to the Amazon shipping container). I returned the two that were defective and, of course, had no trouble whatsoever with Amazon. But be warned: if you purchase one of these, sight unseen, there is a possibility you might have to return it due to manufacturing defects.

It’s a little smaller than I thought it was going to be but I’m not a huge coffee drinker so that’s not a big issue. The small holds 12 ounces.To use it is really straightforward. The directions are on the side of the box. You just have to add some hot water about halfway to get the glass tempered for the hot water you’re going to add to make the coffee. The directions say to add the coffee first, and then pour the hot brewing water over the grounds, but I goofed and added the grounds to the top of the water, but it still did an excellent job in brewing the coffee after I stirred, the grounds. I used two heaping tablespoons of Chock Full o’Nuts coffee, capped it, and let it steep for four minutes (per the directions). The coffee came out perfectly. If you’re not someone who drinks a whole lot of coffee and doesn’t want to have to wait for a coffee maker to brew a pot, I think this is a good deal. I got it over 50% off so I paid just a little over $8.50 plus tax. I wouldn’t have paid the regular price for it but that’s a personal decision. 😉

The French Press performs well. The screen press traps the coffee grounds well. Cleanup is easy.

The lid for this French press was obviously designed to fit a different diameter of beaker than the beaker used in this French press. The diameter of the lid's inner ledge which inserts into the beaker is significantly smaller (approximately .5 cm smaller) than the inner diameter of the beaker so the lid freely jiggles from side to side. There is no rubber gasket or other mechanism to hold the lid securely in place while pouring. This creates a pouring hazard, especially when pouring the 2nd, 3rd & 4th cups when the pot must be tipped at steeper angles than when pouring the first cup. If you don't remember to keep your finger pressed firmly on the lid while simultaneously pressing on the plunger when pouring, you will likely have an accident on your hands.The filter system worked perfectly for my purpose, which was straining essential oil. I don't believe that this is actually a 4-filter system as marketed, however. The coffee press comes assembled with only one very fine wire mesh filter in it...not 2 like some photos show. Another filter is included in the box, but it seems that filter is meant to be a spare. However, it really does not seem necessary to use 2 wire mesh filters at the same time, as using just one of these very fine gauge wire mesh filters worked perfectly for me.I have no experience pouring hot liquids into this French press, so I can not speak to its heat resistance.

Excellent product highly recommend.will purchase again. Now I can have coffee or tea in bed. Highly recommend. The size of it is awesome, had the small one before however this on is exceptional excellent 👍

I got this on dec 27, used it maybe 10 times. Now it’s feb 3 and as i was pouring hot water in it, the glass broke. My window to return it was jan 31. DISSAPOINTING
