I had it installed by taskrabbit
I didnโt do it myself but it took the guy five mins to install. as far as using it goes itโs great but the line does end up becoming a bit saggy no matter how you tighten it. Otherwise itโs a great product to have

Leaps better than a drying rack!
I've used a hanging rack for a number of years and I'm always annoyed with items that are too long or having too many items to get on it comfortably and having to employ hangers as a supplement.I saw this and decided to give it a shot. The directions were relatively clear, although I had a bit of a question of which side of the anchor plate went which direction because it really only gives you a picture and that's not 100% clear. But, a little common sense very easy to install and if you can use a screwdriver and a hammer, you're golden. The widest part of my bathroom is over the tub. I have a slightly curved ceiling in my bathroom so even though it made more sense to mount the catch in the shower area and the base on the curved side, I mounted the catch on the curved side so as not to be entirely unsightly. That can make it a little tricky securing the line, but that's easily solved by clipping a clothes pin in the hole it slides in and out of until you tighten the tension and hang an item on it.And once you tighten the tension it's not going anywhere. Pay attention to the fact that it says it works best when mounted at the maximum length and look for approximately 9 ft of distance on which to mount it.Ultimately, this is the greatest thing I've spent money on in a good while, very, very useful.

Awesome just kept hurting me when it retracts but very good for a clothes line

Hand to dry Hide from all
I personally loved it. I really like that it looks like an amenity Iโve been offered at hotels before while eliminating the ugly over the shower rod/curtain drying of hand towels. We were not able to drill into the bathroom shower tile and opted to fill the back space of the receiving part with caulking and strong double stick taped it instead and has been just fine.

Wish it could be fixed!
This was fine for about two weeks and then the line wouldnโt hold taut. No way to fix! Sad!

The length of the line can vary between individual units
I bought three of these products to replace an old one in our laundry room. The description of the product says that the line is 9.2 ft long. The walls are a bit shy of 9 feet. It also says the line works best when fully extended. I thought perfect. When I finally got ready to mount the line, the first one was only about 8 ft 6 in. This is obviously too short. The second one seems better although 9.2 ft should be 9 ft 2.4 in and this unit, including the thickness of the apparatus itself is only 9 ft 1 in.

Works well
Works well. The cloth line is very thin, not sure it will hold full load of wet clothes.

Light duty
It is what it is ... it is easy to install, it spools out and retracts as needed, it catches on the holder, and it holds hangers. But it is not the same quality as the ones we used to find in hotel rooms, which were durable, strong and built to last. Of course, I am sure the hotel quality ones are much more expensive.Overall, it is a nice thing to have, but it can't really support a lot of weight (e.g., a wet towel). More for t-shirts, and light weight items. That's ok. It is what it is.

Looks great!
Simple design, out of the way solution to hang the occasional wet clothing. The wire is retractable and seems to be very strong. You simply pull the little nub across to the other wall where it hooks into another piece of metal. When youโre done, just guide the wire back to the circular base. I really like it a lot. Only negative I could say is that the circular base was a little larger than expected. Itโs a nice little product for the price!

It is retractible
I have 2 in our trailer. I use 1 as a clothesline for drying damp towels etc. and the other line for a privacy curtain in a bedroom that I can retract when not in use.

Very poor build quality for the price
Just finished installing this and I must say that I am quite underwhelmed, for these specific reasons:The build quality is more what you'd expect from a dollar store purchase than an item priced just over $25; while the housing of the coil is solid, the rest of the metal parts are of sub-par quality. The mounting plate for the coil was bent out of shape, which meant that the lower hook couldn't engage the slot at the back of housing...which serves the dual purpose of stopping the thing from spinning around and from pulling off the wall, when the cable is out. After a bit of metal bending with pliers - not something that should need doing on a brand new item - it makes the proper connection now.The knurled knob/cable stop is poorly fabricated and I'm almost certain, will fail within the first year of use. In fact, with a few test items on the line just now, it already started to sag, as the stop didn't actually tighten the cable - umm, what's the point??Lastly, the cable itself is honestly only a degree thicker than dental floss....which means it stretches under load.Overall, I could have bought myself five lattes and just hung my clothes over the shower curtain rod, the way we always have! So, don't waste your money on this item, unless you enjoy wasting your money, of course.
