SamaN Interior Water Based Wood Stain - Natural Stain for Furniture, Moldings, Wood Paneling,Cabinets (Mahogany TEW-105-12, 12 oz)

Pleasant to work with, no foul odors or any scent, it is different than most stains, it dries very flat on raw wood, it has an ink like feel and look, once you understand its characteristics then it can be used to get the effects you want. This stain can be used in several ways, diluted with water to use as a trace stain, to pop the grain out a bit, before the final top stain coat or it can be applied undiluted and do a sand back and get nice results or both to get the complete dynamic tonal ranges. You can also put it over existing finishes to change the tone, it dries fast, within an hour or less. For protection of the finish it should have a top coat of either shellac, varnish or poly..it will take either water or oil base. This may not be for everyone if you are used to more traditional stains, though pricier, when working on very detailed items for long periods of time it's fantastic not to have any smells, it has zero odor, simple clean up and excellent results make it well worth it to me. It is more of an art medium for me since the finishing process requires much attention to details and many hours to bring out the best of the grain through multiple applications and sanding. They are reputable as an eco friendly green product company for 20yrs..with many other products marketed towards professionals and DIYers. The photo shows the staining in different dilutions with mahogany, a darker trim border with some lighter tones peaking through, the canvas of burl has had various dilutions and multiple sandings for complete tonal range. I

I bought the mahogany stain to try and match some cheap chairs I thrifted to our mahogany dining table. I find the product to be fantastic. I am an impatient person so having a product where I can do a DIY product quickly and without stripping, sanding etc makes this a major game changer. You can layer the stain FYI- it starts out light but you can make things darker. Also a little can go a long way. I am pretty heavy handed and I did half of one chair on a small (maybe a little over 1/4 of a cup?) amount of stain. Directions mention using a cloth and sponge to apply and wipe product. If you’re like me and are impatient and stubborn- you can get away with not using a cloth. I have been applying the stain with an art sponge brush and found if you keep brushing in one direction after application, it will remove product fairly evenly as it starts to dry.

I found a Dixie nightstand that was made in the 1940s, with the original mahogany finish. The top of it had extreme wear and it had nicks and marks on the rest of the nightstand. This product took two coats on the top and one for the rest of it. The stain went on easy and my hands, sponge brush and plastic container for the product cleaned up quickly with warm water and dishwashing liquid. My nightstand turned out looking great, while still appearing like it has its original mahogany finish.

Really appreciate the odorless quality. Doesn’t appear to wear as well as convention stain, especially when it gets wet. Took two tries to match color we needed.

Works great on woods traditionally needing a wood conditioner, but without it! Used it on a poplar railing that my contractor said wouldn't stain well and it looks better than I could have imagined! Very high quality and as advertised not to need a wood conditioner. Two coats of stain and two coats of the satin finish by the same brand recommended and on the bottle.
