SCAM--DO NOT PURCHASE
This is neither Ube, nor sweet potato powder. It is most definitely not a 'powder' in any sense--it has a very hard and grainy texture. The colour is not remotely purple. My guess is that it is a dried cassava starch that is sprayed with some type of colouring. Horrible. Based on pictures shared with ChatGPT, this is most likely a scam and not at all ube. I will be filing a formal complaint.

Ignore the bad reviews, they were looking for an Ube Latte Mix
This packet of Ube (Purple Yam) powder is legitimately so good. People complain that it doesn’t dissolve, well they probably were looking for a latte mix for a boba milk tea drink, and for that purpose this is NOT the product you need. This ube powder is for making rich thick jams like Ube Halaya, which is what I made with it. One small packet like this made 2 8oz jars of Ube milk jam for me. I simmered a cup of heavy cream (you can use half & half if you dont have heavy cream) and melted butter (about 5 tbsp) in a small pot, over medium heat I stirred this packet of Ube powder in and it started getting thick as the cream was evaporating, then I mixed in a can of condensed milk, and a couple of squirts of Ube extract/Ube flavored food coloring, kept it on medium heat and kept stirring until it was thick and goopy, than I let it cool and put it into glass jars (8oz size Ball jars with metal lid which is available here on Amazon). I use this thick milk jam on English muffins or a spoon of it served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or just eat a spoonful of it like how some people would snack on a spoon of peanut butter. If you’re an Ube lover, definitely get this, and if you love the Ube color, make sure to also buy a small bottle of the Ube extract/Ube flavored food color gel to make your jam a bright and deep purple color.

Disappointing for boba beverage
I gave this product a mostly neutral rating because, honestly, it's the first ube I've ever tried so maybe they're all like this. I was hoping to make a brilliantly colored boba tea, but when mixed with sugar and hot water, the hue is a muddy brownish purple. To make matters worse, the powder doesn't actually dissolve, so you're left with a watery mashed potato-like residue as everything settles to the bottom even after straining out the larger chunks. The flavor is what I expected - sort of mildly sweet potato-ish. Since I don't want to waste it, I'll give it a try in a baked good to see if it's any better, but if you're looking for boba ingredients, this probably won't be ideal. I'm was hoping to avoid the artificial colors and flavorings in the bottled ube extract, but I'll be trying that next to get the boba aesthetic I'm looking for.

If you want to make it work for coffee, mix it in & let it absorb the fluid! CREAMY!
I knew it would be more "grainy" from the start. When I mixed it in with almond milk for coffee in a blender, it got creamy and thick. I think that was perfect! The flavor was quite strong for only 2 tablespoons in 2 cups of sweetened almond milk creamer for 4 cups of coffee. I wish they would sell a pound of this and add an Ube flavoring extract to it, a two-ingredient combo. Without extract, the flavor is strong enough but I think it would be cool if they had an extra-flavored version of this. I'll take all the ube flavor I can get. This flavor is getting popular in coffee shops. I like the Jans brand, they sell it in my local Ross store, and has been a quality reliable brand from overseas.

Moth damage unfortunately
I was able to taste once and was pleased with the aroma and value for the money. However, I couldn’t enjoy the versatility because of pantry moth damage days later and had to toss. I’m not accusing, but that was rare as I learned they have expensive taste too haha.

Waste of money
This doesn't even turn the food purple. It is super big pieces and grainy. It's not a powder. So misleading. I'm disappointed and wish I could return this. I used half a bag on this cream and it's still not even purple. Just crunch specks. I can't even use it. What a waste!!
