Blast from the past
It's a Tamiya Grasshopper II. If you know, you know. It builds and drives exactly as they did in the 80s. Does not drive like a modern buggy. They still don't come with ball bearings for whatever reason, so pick up a set before you start your build (about $12 -$14). You'll need a radio, servo, and battery. Frankly in this day and age, just get a DumboRC X4 or similar for less than $40. It's all you need for a radio. Just get a cheap, low-torque, standard-size servo. Those crazy 25kg servos are overkill and will probably just break the car in half. I went NiMH on the battery, as they are worry-free and the car needs all of the sprung weight it can get. Make sure you get a battery with a "Tamiya" (molex) connector. This model is the same as it ever was. All ABS construction. If you want a basher, look elsewhere. There are endless hop-ups for this. The one pictured has CVA shocks and an Ampro transmission stabilizer, which helps make the car a bit less squirrelly and yet still drives like a grasshopper: a ton of fun.

So much fun
The Tamiya Grasshopper 2 is a kit from 1988 but that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it! This kit was great to put together and with a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor in it, it is fast! It’s fun to drive and a great rc buggy!
