Pretty versitile
I'm no longer doing comm work, but was very active in the communications field for years. This toner is fairly 'old-school' which kind of means easy to use and reliable. I have used it on various types of circuits, from POTS wires, to data lines, to house wiring (no voltage!). Worked great in all cases. Tone is easy to hear, which is great for those of us missing a lot of our younger abilities in that area. It's simple, rugged, and good quality.

A good unit. I would purchase it again.
PProfessional electrician here.Although this is made for tracing telephone lines, and it works well at that, I also use it for tracing UNENERGIZED! power lines to find if they are good, and approximately where the fault is if they are bad.

Very handy.
It did what it said it would do. I had to find a tv cable in the attic to hook up an antenna I installed in the attic. I was able to detect the tone and find the right wire to hook to the antenna. Would recommend.

Doesn’t pinpoint the wire and volume is very low . I would say it is useless

I wouldn’t buy it again. It functions, but it’s cheap cheap made.
It’s very obvious it’s not a quality one, but if you’re looking for something cheap to do the job, it’ll probably do that
