God I love this book
God I love this book. I have been repairing computers for over thirty years but there's still a lot I have to look up or run reference on from time to time and this one book somehow seems to cover most of it. Not sure what I would do without it.

Liking the book
I was looking for a book so I can learn how to build a circuit to light my sci-fi models. This book fits the bill. It explains everything in clear and simple manner for someone who has not taken any circuit building courses. looking forward to starting soon.

Could be better
The black and white pictures are terrible, and distort most of the wiring examples. Why do that? Many of the circuit descriptions are either too vague, or just not technical enough to figure out on your own. Try the digital timer project, and you'll see what I mean. And, would it be too much to ask to have the components in the schematics match the wiring examples? Compare the digital timer schematic with the wiring example (pages 47 & 54). There a multiple differences. The book will give you ideas. And, if you're not a total beginner, you can use it for inspiration. There definitely needs to be a new edition of this book. For the new edition, use color pictures, better descriptions, and I would lock in breadboard sizes, so the author can use exact numbers on pins, jumpers, and components in the how-to. Also, make sure the schematic components match the wiring illustrations. I would drop all the making connectors; this book is about circuit building (not page after page of connectors)---include many more circuits.

Good for the beginner and hobbyist
Good book, well written. Excellent for a beginner or new hobby with easy to understand circuits. For a more in depth look at beginner electronics, look at, "Make: Electronics: Learning Through Discovery by Charles Platt (16 Nov 2011)" sold by Amazon. Make sure you order the 2011 edition.

Great book to follow through and play with a few simple circuits. This book probably wont help you become a guru in electronics but its a very good start. While reading it I experimented, built some of the circuits, and was even able to modify the designs to make very simple changes on my own. I also feel that I can use the information contained in the book to build my own simple control circuits.

Good for beginner
If you dont know nothing about circuitbuiloding and want to start, this book is great for you. Cose it manufactured in USA, will have dificulties to do some projects in this book who live in UK. Still good book to learn about electronic.

Not for beginning
I thought this book was for Dummy. Wrong! This book does not chose you how to build Circuit for beginner. I do not recommend this book if you have no notion of electronic. It's book a "cook" book for circuit than a book for Dummy.
