Pretty sturdy, but an absolute nightmare to assemble. I am a very experienced DIYer, but found these a real slog to assemble on my own. Between the unsupported metal parts flapping about, the risk of pinching a finger and the extreme fiddliness of getting the metal tabs to slot into the right place, I really regret buying 6 of these! The first one has taken me over an hour to assemble, and a lot of the tabs are not slotted in correctly. The mdf shelves are very thin, and would not stand up to anything other than a dry room. They also have a really strong and strange smell, overwhelmingly fishy, like kippers. The entire ground floor, where I assembled the shelves, still smells of it the next day. That said, for the price, they are pretty sturdy once the final piece is slotted into place. They are a good size and will hold a lot of stuff, although I will definitely avoids anything too heavy. The edges are also nicely finished off, reducing the risk of nasty cuts. They also provide (very flimsy) gloves, which is a nice touch. All-in-all, decent for the price and I will be delighted to have the extra storage space, but I’m dreading having to build them.

Exactly what I needed for my pantry! Really easy to put together. I just used a mallet and a flat head screwdriver. I didn’t fix it to the wall, as it’s not likely to fall out of the cupboard it’s in, especially with all the weight I have on it (which is a lot!!) but I would recommend doing so, if it’s freestanding somewhere and can be knocked over. It comes with the screws and some general rawlplug’s for that purpose. For the price, the metal is quite durable and I wouldn’t class it as cheap, however, if you were to take a hammer to, or kick it hard, it probably wouldn’t hold up well after a few hits, It’s not Solid-solid. If you have young children I wouldn’t recommend having it in general grabbing access, as it’s not too hard to lift the shelves up off each-other, The weight on the shelves is what holds them down. Overall, I’m very happy with it! I will be using the second unit in a shed so will be sealing the mdf boards so they don’t suck in moisture and swell/mould, as recommended by others reviews.😄👍🏻

I was initially drawn to these SONGMICS 5-Tier Heavy-Duty Shelving Units because of the high ratings and the promise of easy assembly with no bolts, screws, or nuts needed. The idea of a hassle-free setup sounded perfect, so I went ahead and ordered several units. Unfortunately, my experience hasn't lived up to the promise, and I need to highlight some serious flaws. 🔨 Assembly Challenges Although the shelves are lightweight and relatively easy to move, assembling them turned out to be much more challenging than expected. The assembly is advertised as quick and bolt-free, but it’s anything but seamless. I highly recommend having a rubber hammer and a flat, thin screwdriver on hand, which you’ll need to push the metal lips into place. After assembling a few, I managed to get the hang of it, but it still took me about an hour for each unit—not exactly what I’d call "quick." 📦 Storage Capabilities Once fully assembled, the shelves do hold a decent amount of weight. Initially, they look flimsy and incapable of supporting heavy items, but they do stabilize once loaded. Just a heads-up: moving them while items are on the shelves could easily damage the frame, so make sure you place them where you want them before loading them up. 🌧️ MDF Shelves: A Serious Problem Now, here's the real problem—the shelves themselves. They are made from untreated MDF, and if you’re thinking of placing them anywhere other than a dry, indoor room, you should reconsider. I installed them in my summer shed, which is adequately ventilated, with no damp issues, but the MDF shelves started attracting moisture. The untreated MDF means they are highly susceptible to mould growth, and that’s precisely what happened. Despite keeping my shed well-ventilated, I noticed cold and dampness starting to form on the shelves during the winter months. I’ve had to remove everything, wipe the shelves down with bleach, and put everything back multiple times. Even after treating the shelves with yacht varnish—which took ages and required me to remove and then replace all items—the mould kept returning. 💸 Waste of Time and Money Between the cost of the shelving units, the yacht varnish, and the countless hours spent scrubbing mould and reassembling, this has been an incredibly frustrating and expensive ordeal. These shelves are by no means cheap, and having to go through all this hassle just to make them functional is simply unacceptable. They are clearly not fit for purpose if they can’t be used in a shed or garage, which is precisely where most people would need this kind of storage. ☠️ Health Hazard The worst part is the potential health hazard. Mould spores are dangerous, especially when airborne, and could easily lead to respiratory problems. This is a huge concern, especially since these units are supposed to provide safe and reliable storage. Instead, they’ve become a breeding ground for mould and fungus—hardly what anyone needs in their storage area. 🚫 Final Verdict I would strongly advise anyone considering these shelving units to look elsewhere. They might work fine during the summer months or in a perfectly controlled indoor environment, but if you’re planning to use them in a garage, shed, or any outbuilding, prepare for disappointment. Come winter, they’ll be worthless, covered in unsightly and dangerously spreading mould. Save yourself the hassle, the expense, and the health risk—find something better suited for the job.

These SONGMICS shelving units are seriously strong. Set of 2 gives loads of storage and each 5-tier shelf holds heavy boxes, tools, and kitchen kit with zero wobble. Steel frame feels industrial-grade and the shelves are adjustable, so you can fit tall items easily. Assembly was quick — no extra tools needed and everything lined up perfectly. Powder-coated finish looks clean and should resist rust. Cleared my garage clutter in an afternoon. For the price vs quality, you won’t find better. Proper heavy-duty storage that actually lasts.

Overall you get what you paid for, and I didn't pay too much. That being said, it works and I don't feel like it will crumble under general weight. PROS and CONS. PROS - good price. It works and seems stable enough to hold general items. Boarding is relatively stable and I don't think will break under pressure (pun intended). CONS - Literally NO instructions! It's like putting together a kid's toy, but more agrivating. Metal is a step up from baking foil. Goodness if you have to move it or bump it - as the aeras where they hold together will pop out. To save some sense of sanity - I recommend forget putting the middle bars in as they pop out at the slightest sneeze or careless whisper. If possible I would give 2.5 stars for being 'good enough'.

Have built one of these so far for my garage, fairly straight forward build - no idea what all the fuss is about in relation to using a screw driver and fiddling around. A small bit of guidance with your finger and good whack with a hammer is plenty enough to put these shelves up in no time at all. Based on other reviews I am buying some MDF sealant to further seal the shelves so that they do not mould any time soon. Our garage is fairly warm but will be susceptible to temperature change so seems like the right thing to do to avoid disappointment like others. However if after time I find that the MDF has bowed with it being fairly thin and cheap material, then you can easily replace for thicker wood if any type and just cut to size. Fits the space I had for it in the garage perfectly and the dimensions of it are spot on, cannot complain on this front. And so far has taken all of the weight needed. Once built this is a very stable unit however in the build process it can appear flimsy, fear not, by the end this is solid - especially when you load it up. I would recommend however the mould risk does make me hesitant so we shall see how the sealing goes.

Pacco arrivato anche prima del previsto e impacchettato alla perfezione, molto facile da montare e devo dire anche fatto molto bene, materiali ottimi e bello resistente. La costruzione è solida e robusta, e si sente che può sostenere un buon peso senza problemi. Il montaggio è stato semplice grazie alle istruzioni chiare e ben illustrate. Gli scaffali sono facili da montare una volta che si riesce a capire come si devono regolare i pezzi,e risultano decisamente stabili una volta posizionati. anticipo. Considerando la qualità dei materiali e la sua funzionalità, il rapporto qualità-prezzo è eccellente. Lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque cerchi uno scaffale robusto, esteticamente piacevole e versatile per organizzare i propri spazi. Cinque stelle meritatissime!

J'ai choisi de monter une étagère complète et de laisser la deuxième en demi pour faire un petit établi. J'ai réalisé le tout en moins d'une heure seul avec juste un petit maillet. A voir avec le temps.
