It seems almost as if it's a new production made by Rothco. It's in excellent shape if true surplus.

This hood is great. Dated 1977 but in brand new condition. No smells as others have stated. I am very happy with it, now my M65 can handle any season or temperature.With this dated 1977 it probably has been in storage a very long time. I used a brush on the fur to give it more loft and avoid that “mange” look. Looks good as new.

Fake fir sheds and gets in your eyes.

Took a chance after seeing some negative reviews complaining of degraded hoods with mold and bad smells. I received my hood from McGuire Army Navy and I'm extremely satisfied. I opened the package to find a nearly perfect original stock M51/M65 OG-107 Extreme Cold Weather parka hood w/ faux fur ruff. All original drawstrings, buttons, buttonholes, plus the snap and loop are present and in good working condition. After viewing a tutorial video, I buttoned the hood to my military surplus M65 and it fit perfectly. It transforms a jacket suitable down to about 0°F to be ready for considerably lower temperatures, and will protect your head from wind and snow in extremely inhospitable winter environments. A truly excellent addition to any genuine US military issue M65. I honestly may buy another one, I like it so much. They only made them in og-107, so don't waste your time searching for one in woodland, which is what my jacket is. However, I kind of enjoy the mismatched look, it makes it look sort of Mad Maxish.

This is of the highest quality hood I ever bough.Extreme flexibility provides a 'custom' contour around your head, neck and shoulders to keep the wind and moisture out.Great for extreme weather like blowing snow. Perfect for snow blowers or cross country skiing.The slight odor is not mold as others report, but in fact, a preservative to prevent it. Most MIL Spec products manufactured since WWII used it, and is confirmation it is indeed a USA Military issue.

A great and awesome hood, fastens with buttons, not zippers, sew buttons on if they're not already in your jacket, I substituted the "combat BDU shirt" with a cold weather liner instead of the M-65 jacket, added buttons and attached per instructions and created a very warm, versatile, lightweight cold weather jacket/coat, very high quality, very strong hood assembly, very warm with the wool lining, this civilian is grateful to buy military gear, love that it's MADE IN USA. Remove copper wire if not wearing helmet, hood will drape better, be warmer, lay down more naturally when not wearing and folded back.

Great condition. Fits on multiple styles of parkas.
