Great for our little girl to grow up bilingual!
This is an excellent book and so glad we brought it for our little girl! I am English and my wife is French so must have a bilingual baby which made the Nasty Lobster book the perfect choice. Out of the box, the book is high quality and very visual. It's very easy to use and work the first time with no delays or errors. Also impressive was the pronunciation of each word or phrase which we tested with both English and French families. Overall, don't hesitate and give your kids the gift of language.

Can't stop the kids saying oui
This book is a great way to introduce young children to languages but definitely has scope for improvement. There are 22 pages covering a variety of themes and associated words (eg: farm, food, family tree). The pages are glossy and feel like they are made of plastic. They feel as though they will withstand constant use (as they will be poked and prodded a lot). The book works by using hidden buttons in the front and back page. You must press 'Go' when you turn a page so it knows which page you are on. Pressing words on the page will then result in the correct response. It's very important you press Go on each page else you will get responses that do not correspond to the page you are looking at. And each page must be laid pretty flat for it to recognise pressing on a word (since the sensors are in the front/back of the book). Button presses work consistnely, without too much pressure and are very accurate.Where this book really could improve is by perhaps having both the english word followed by the french word with a single button press, rather than relying on pressing the 'switch' button to change languages inbetween. Similarly, the quiz is either entirely in English or French. I think children could get used to it, but would have been better for beginners to hear: "where is..." french word. Rather than hearing the entire quiz in French as it may be easy to miss the word/item you are actually being asked to look for.At £25.75 (at time of review), this does feel expensive, despite all the work that has gone into creating such a clever book. The book is very well made and requires 3 AAA batteries (not included. I imagine this would be far more accessible at around £20.Overall this is a great introduction to French and my son has been hooked. I'm also really glad to see something like this in book form when there are so many apps that will offer a similar experience. I feel like kids get enough screen time, so this is a very welcome and novel way of teaching a language. I hope to see more from Nasty Lobster with other languages.

amazing book
My daughter absolutely loves this book. She’s still young, so it continues to teach her english as well as French. We’ve come up of plenty of ways to use this book, including me just saying a word and her finding it within the book. She falls asleep with it every night and loves copying the french words, having never learnt french before. It’s a must buy!!

Great learning book
This is a great learning book for ages three and above it takes 3AAA batteries that are not included has loads of good features and easily translates from English to french it has alphabet and numbers the only thing that is a shame is that the alphabet hasn’t got a phonics option which a lot of schools teach now but other than that is great bright and colourful illustrations very engaging for young children the pages are all cleanable so you can wipe them off with a cloth very good value for what you get has volume control and on off switch on side of book

Fun and educational way of learning new language
I purchased this item for my five year old and it has been fantastic, such a fun and educational way to learn through games and songs. My three year old also uses this well and is begging to pick up simple words. If you are looking to introduce French to your children I would recommend !

Colouring and engaging
I got this book for my 3 year old little boy as I think learning a second language at a younger age will be easier for him to pick up. The book is brightly coloured and has nice engaging pictures with a great variety of different scenes. My little boy has shown a great interest in the book and likes listening to all the words. The book is hardback and has nice glossy pages. The book does require batteries that are not provided with the book.

Very expensive for what it is
The good points of this book are that firstly, it's pretty lightweight and easy to use. The pictures are bright and colourful and the text is relatively easy to read. There are a lot of words (although I don't really know how often you'd need to know some of them to be able to converse in French) and it's quite an engaging product. The French speaker is actually French, so you know the pronunciation is going to be on point, which is very useful. I had a Liverpudlian French teacher at school, so...yeah. Work that one out. A lot of useful content is included and the little game you can play to find the right picture/word is very good indeed and simple to use.The bad points are that the English-speaking voice talks very quickly at times and you can't always catch what she's saying. For us, her pronunciation of certain words was fine as we are north of Watford, but those in the southeast particularly might not appreciate that a word like "fast" doesn't have an R in it (don't hurt me!). Some of the French words are quite long to say and I think a young child might struggle with this - my kids certainly did. As did I, to be fair.It is also ludicrously expensive for what it is and the variety of words can be an odd choice in places. I get that kids need to be able to want to read it, but I think they could have swapped out the wild animal/farmyard/undersea pages for more practical options like more food and drink (they do cover fruit and veg), more common household objects, a few more conversational phrases, more commonly found animals (as opposed to sea horses and elephants) etc. There are some conversation examples, but they are not very comprehensive and could do with expanding more.If it drops significantly in price, I do recommend getting it. Right now it's pricey for what it is, but it is still a nice book to help your child (or yourself!) to either learn French words or brush up on your pronunciation skills.

Educational can’t go wrong
It’s a great book it’s fun while learning you go wrong I feel like the button function could be a little better for when you change the pages but that’s just probably me

Super livre interactif duo langue
