Soft and durable crew socks
These are my favorites crew socks of all time. They are closest to the ones I used to buy at Costco (who have sold them in a while). They are so comfortable and they actually get more comfortable over time even with several washings. The quality is quite good and they have lasted for several years with rotating use. The fit is perfect for me and the moisture wicking works reasonably well. The look is casual and slightly off white (which I prefer rather than a brilliant white). Be aware that they are acrylic and nylon with no cotton content. My only complaint is that they are rather pricey compared to other socks (e.g. the Dickies Men's Dri-Tech Original Moisture Control Crew Socks which are a good alternative).

Nice ACRYLIC midweight crew
Update, April 2026. I put on a new pair from my storage dresser, and they felt so cozy inside some new, slightly loose boots! These socks, worn and washed "in rotation" as other people do also, wear amazingly well. The elastic of the ankle section does not age, and the material tolerates a hot dryer cycle with no issues. They are pretty tough and the under-heel section doesn't become threadbare as some polyester socks will over time. Acrylic Mens socks in a midweight crew style seem to have nearly disappeared. Ages ago I found that even cotton blend socks, let alone mostly (clammy) cotton held dampness, but acrylic socks wicked moisture and remained comfortable. For years I wore only mostly-acrylic socks, but had to accept polyester too. I feel poly seems a bit harsher fabric. Recently I bought "moisture wicking" cotton blend socks, but found that as my day went on they seemed to hold onto dampness, and I won't be wearing them again. I cannot find black acrylic yet (for years my ordinary daily wear) but these should do nicely for white wear. They're medium weight with a reasonably thicker sole. They were faintly snug as I put on my cycling shoes, compared to my usual black socks. but not so much as to impair a good fit. Great bargin, too.

Excellent crew socks. Used to manufacure for Costco.
UPDATE: I haven't found any socks that I like better. I guess I've been using these about as long as they have been making them, for sure over 20 years. They are comfortable. Stay up well but not too tight. I don't like thick socks in my shoes and these are a good compromise between cushioned comfort and not too thick. The acrylic fibers absorb moisture and do not grow fungus like cotton blends do. Best sock deal I have found anywhere! And made in USA, even better. These are just very good basic acrylic crew socks. I still have most of the dozen pair of the same socks I purchased from Costco about 15 years ago and they are just now starting to get pretty thin, but have held together extremely well, wearing a pair almost daily. Costco no longer sells these and I have looked far and wide for an equivalent sock to replace them but with no success until I found the Dryons here on Amazon. Apparently this is the same manufacturer. Hooray! As best I can tell, it's the exact same fabric formula and design and fit as my old ones (I wear a size 11-1/2 shoe). No cotton to get soggy and smelly and harbor fungus. Promote healthy, happy feet. Tops hold their shape and elasticity. Plenty of absorbency and not too much padding to make my shoes feel tight. Best crew/work socks I have ever owned.

Not exactly like the Russell Costco Socks
I made the wrong assumption that the great Russell socks sold by Costco for many years at a great price would always be available. I have since searched the web (which is equivalent to searching the whole, wide world) for the original socks as well as a good substitute. The original Russell brand white socks are no longer produced (Russell Sock Company: If you read this -- PLEASE reconsider manufacturing your white Costco crew socks again. MILLIONS would be SO grateful!!) Anyway -- The Dryons brand comes closest, but still not quite there. They have a somewhat tighter fit, which means I have to pull them off my arthritic feet after a while to get some relief. They also seem to pop holes in the heels pretty quickly -- maybe that's unique to me. I do walk around in my stocking feet, including outside to grab the mail (two steps on concrete), so maybe I'm bringing the holes on myself. Once the socks are dirt stained (stocking feet walking -- remember?), they DO NOT come clean. The price point is a little steep in my opinion, especially compared to what the Costco socks used to cost -- but of course, that is now a moot point as the Costco socks are no longer available. These socks are warm and I do recommend them as a substitute for the beloved Costco socks.

I hate to say it but I'm disappointed
I never thought a pair of socks could hold so much significance in my life, but when Costco stopped carrying the Russell socks made of acrylic and Lycra, I was so upset, I felt like crying! (I didn't, of course! That would've been weird! But I did panic inwardly so no one could see.) I was so happy to find these dryons. I'd gone without them for a few years already and hadn't found anything comparable. There were some differences but all in all, they did the trick. Upon receiving my latest order, however, I noticed some changes. They don't feel the same at all! They are rough to touch and tight. They don't stretch the way they should. The greatest thing about them was they were always soft and never quit! Maybe they will feel better once I wash them. They've never felt this way before though, so I'm not very optimistic. I'm not crying... yet. If they don't change after washing, though... I make no promises.

It actually works
I recently purchased these through Amazon. I needed a whole new set of socks for my workout and was particularly looking for a kind that is as healthy for my feet as possible. I have sensitive feet that quickly get itchy, and scaly. I’ve tried all kinds of fabrics before but nothing seemed to be protective enough from accumulated moisture, especially when working out or going through an entire workday. So I came across this brand by randomly researching Acrylic fabric, and I gave it a try. Well, about 30 workouts in, and a couple of laundry rounds – I can’t be happier with this finding. These socks feel incredible on my feet. They are comfortable in a sport shoe, they keep their shape after a wash, but most importantly – they really do keep my feet dry. It’s like magic. I appreciate the 12 count, because then the supply is available even when I’m not doing laundry for a few days. I also like the height. It goes high enough to cover my heels, so it works well with my basketball shoes. I highly recommend these for athletes and those who wear sport socks to work and just need a healthy fabric to protect their feet from unpleasant skin conditions.

Essentially the old Costco Russell Athletic socks
These socks are great! If you like the old Russell Athletic socks Costco used to sell but tragically discontinued, then these are the socks for you. They are essentially the same sock without the logo on the toes. I have searched for years as my beloved Costco/Russell Athletic socks started wearing out one by one. I liked the socks so much I still have a couple pair hanging on, but they aren't long for this world. I've tried to keep them as long as I can because, frankly, they were awesome but also nowhere to be found after Costco stopped selling them. Enter Dryons. Looking desperately (yet again) for a worthy replacement to my old socks, I came across these on Amazon with reviewers saying this is the same sock. I was a bit incredulous, but figured with Amazon's customer service I had little to lose and ordered a package. Boy am I glad I did! When they first arrived I was skeptical because rhey didn't feel quite as soft as I remembered. But after a single wash, they are every bit what I was looking and hoping for. These are basically the same sock without the signature grey R logo on the toes! Finally, I can get rid of all these other socks that never quite managed to measure up, and we're often passed over in favor of one of the fee pairs of Costco/RA socks I had left, which are getting really threadbare in the heels and toes. If you miss those socks, get these. You won't be disappointed. How can you believe this review? Well, here I am excited about...socks. I don't get excited about things so mundane, but these a really are THAT good.

Add me to the list.
Like so many others I had been looking for the Costco Russell socks for years. These are pretty much them. A bit pricier, almost unnoticeably thinner, but pretty much them. Washed them before wearing as suggested by others and they thickened (fluffed) right up so that just leaves the price, but it's 10 years later too so... The only question is, will they last like the old ones? We'll see, but benefit of the doubt given. Oh, and still made in the U.S.A. So, for now, I'm a happy camper. Thanks Dryons (and Amazon)!
