Does it plug right into the land line?

This is an expansion set. It connects wirelessly to the base unit. In order to plug to landline, you need the FreeStyl 2, not the FreeStyl 2HÇ.

Stay away from buying this phone - a total waste of money and could not return as they never responded

is this a complete set that I just plug in to my phone cord, or is a base station needed? also, how many hours on the battery before a recharge?

The base station is needed. Our phones are only off the charger for 12 hours and then back on the charge unit. We have no issues with the batteries in this application.
