Works great with iPhone 15 Pro with correct settings
I bought this for my iPhone 15 Pro so that if I went to work and forgot my Wireless AirPods, I could then still use the Apple Lightning EarPods that I keep at work. When I first plugged it into my iPhone 15 Pro, it asked what type of device I was plugging in. The options were Other or Headphones. Obviously I selected Headphones, but found that once I played music, it played at Max Volume no matter where I had my volume set. If I turned the volume all the way down, it would mute. I tried the same thing with my iPad Pro to see if it was an issue with my adapter and it worked fine with the iPad Pro. I could adjust the volume of the music through the EarPods.I did some searching on Apple Support and found an older article for a Lightning to Audio adapter. It gave a list of things to try and one of them was to forgot all adapters plugged into the iPhone. If you have already used the adapter and selected Headphones, then do this to forget the adapter and try again. Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Headphone Safety > USB Audio Accessories. Select the Forget All USB Audio Accessories button and then select it again when it asks if you are sure. Now start all over with the adapter. Plug it in and when asked what type of accessory you have plugged in, select Other (Not Headphones). Once I did this the volume worked fine with my Lightning EarPod headphones. It will remember this setting from now on.As for the adapter, it feels like great quality and does what it is supposed to do. Hopefully this helps if you are having issues.

Didn't work for me, returning it. UPDATE! NEED TO SWITCH AUDIO MANUALLY.
I am embarrassed to say that it was a mistake of mine. A review helped me realize that I had to SWITCH OFF MANUALLY my McBook Pro speakers to direct them to my earbuds.Once I realized that, the earbuds are working great!

DOESNT WORK WITH APPLE WIRED EARPODS
I forgot I had bought an IDENTICAL adapter months ago from same company (8-10 months ago) to be able to use my Apple Wired EarPods for online meetings in my Windows 10 machine; but I thought issue was because machine only had 1 USB C port that I used to connect docking station so I bought a USB A (old bigger style) to USB C adapter to plug this adapter with the my EarPods into and found out that the EarPod VOLUME was ALWAYS at FULL BLAST.Lowering the Windows Volume or using the volume control on the EarPods themselves had no effect on the volume blasting through the ears - LOWERING PC VOLUME had no effect in actual volume being outputted via the pods.I have the SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM with this adapter in my iPhone 15 in trying to repurpose the myriad of older EarPods w the lightning plug: volume shows being at its lowest on the iphone display, however, it’s blaring in full through the ears.Only effect is that if you MUTE the volume in the device, like on the Windows 10 PC as well, only then, will sound stop blaring in the pods. However, moment you unmute the device (Windows PC or iPhone), the volume will be at full blast.Waste of time and money. You’d think they’d know this by now. I can’t imagine I’m the only one that has had this problem w 2 identical adapters from this manufacturer for the SINGLE PRODUCT it is made for, Apple EarPods and data cable.PS: there’s a little LED light that recognizes that device is set for MUSIC. It’s red when plugged into phone without the EarPods, and blue when EarPods are PLUGGED into THE ADAPTER.Same was true for the USB A to lightning adapter in Win10 PC.Phone also asked me when I plugged in the adapter if it was for headphones or something else, to which I answered headphones, obviously. So this manufacturer just seems to be oblivious to what it’s selling, or I’m very unlucky 😂BTW, I have 5 different pairs of EarPods, so it’s not due to using obe defective one.BTW, this adapter costs $20 and SO DOES A BRAND NEW PAIR OF APPLE EARPODS w a USB C connector already in it.So this adapter would only add value if you have another pair of EXPENSIVE HEADPHONES that only has a lightning connector. If not your case, this is a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY EVEN IF IT WORKED AS EXPECTED as you can get the genuine article without a cheap adapter hanging out the butt of your EXPENSIVE $1500-$2000 iPhone 15 PRO MAX.

Choose “Other” for iPhone 15
When I first got this, I chose “Headphones” when it asked what kind of device was plugged in. The volume was very loud on its lowest setting. My phone kept warning me that it was detecting high decibel levels. Plus if I was using them for listening to music or whatever, and someone called, the ring would come through on the highest volume, which was painful! I had to quickly take them out of my ears. I stopped using it because it gave me a headache with it being so loud. Also, the part that connects to the phone would get really hot. I read some of the reviews, and tried again but chose “Other”. The volume is softer and it doesn’t heat up as much. Glad I can use the headphones again.

Nice little adapter
I like using my perfectly good wired ear buds sometimes, so I needed an adapter when I upgraded my iPhone. This little adapter works well for that reason!

I does work, but you have to pick 'other' instead of audio
Wierd, but if you pick audio, you only get full volume with no adjustments. If you make the mistake of picking audio, forget the device and reconnect, and this time pick other. Then the volume works. Found a wierd bug that causes the volume to still go to full when swiping on Synology's file app, so I ended up using an official Apple adapter to avoid the issue. Otherwise it does work.
