GU Energy, Original Energy Gels, Assorted Fruity Flavors - 24 Count

I'm a relatively new long distance runner, and as I started to push out to 1+ hour runs, I knew that I would need something to take while on the trail to keep me going. Everywhere I looked, Gu was the #1 recommended running gel and to me, seems to be the least expensive. I'd heard that some of the flavors can sometimes cause stomach issues, so I chose to get this sample pack to try out and see how I liked it. The package comes with the following flavors: Mandarin orange: By far my favorite of the group, the light orange flavor of this gel went down easily and left a light aftertaste that was not unpleasant. The taste came across as authentic and didn't taste fake at all, without the sugary sweetness I really dislike. Lemon Sublime: My second favorite, this has the taste of light lemonade, again with an aftertaste that was not unpleasant Salted Watermelon: I'm not a fan of artificial watermelon flavors, so I'll admit that I was not looking forward to this one, however it left me pleasantly surprised! The watermelon flavor was light and smooth and I actually enjoyed it a lot. Strawberry banana: This one tasted like Yoplait strawberry yogurt to me. I'm not a fan of artificial banana flavor either, but this one didn't give me that fake banana impression. Jet Blackberry: Picture a an intense blackberry jam, but without the high sugar content. This tasted almost like pie filling and was really enjoyable. Overall, I felt that not only was the flavor of the packets pretty great, I definitely felt a nice energy boost during my runs. The caffeine content didn't build to an intolerable amount over time and I definitely can see usage for marathons and beyond. One note here, the packet recommends that you take it 5 minutes before every 45 minute mark (i.e. at 00:40, 00:85, etc), as well as one five minutes before starting but I took these every thirty minutes during my runs (and none before). I didn't feel any negative effects to this, so I definitely think its fine to do so, just experiment with what works for you. I've been wholeheartedly recommending these to my friends and I definitely do to you as well.

I wasn’t sure how much of a difference these gels would make, but they actually work pretty well. The flavors are fruity and not too sweet, and they’re easy to eat on the go without feeling gross or sticky. They give a noticeable energy boost during workouts, and I like that they’re vegan and gluten-free. The packaging is convenient, so you can just toss one in a bag or pocket. Overall, they do exactly what they’re supposed to do.

Ordered a full box of these for a long multi-day (4 day, 60 miles) backpacking trip to help keep my energy levels up between rest breaks and meals. They definitely made a difference thanks to the added caffeine and aminos; I could tell the aminos worked as my legs weren't so sore when getting to camp each night. Came with 24 individual pouches in 5 flavors, all of which are pretty good compared to other brands that I've tried: Mandarin Orange, Salted Watermelon, Strawberry Banana, Lemon Sublime and Jet Blackberry. I am very please with the flavors and benefits of these but I think that I am going to try the "Rocktane" version next time to see how the added caffeine and aminos (almost double) works compared to these.

GU energy great taste and cost. Extremely easy to use at the gym/workout or enroute there. Many different great tasting flavors. Taste of honey in all flavors. Great energy delivery system. Easy on the stomach.

I started my running journey using these. I think they are a great, easy option to start with. They were easy on my stomach but I am not super sensitive. I liked the variety pack so that I could figure out which flavors I prefer. I think they were good to fuel and not too sweet.

These have supplemented my long runs well. At first, I honestly didn't enjoy the flavor, but they oddly grew on me quickly. No leakage even after constant friction inside compression shorts.

Decided to try different flavours and it didn't disappoint. Ths quality is great it gives the same energy boost that I am accustomed to from other flavours. The ingredients are the ones needed for sure

Flavours are ok, definitely recommend consuming with water. Gives both a good caffeine and carb boost during strenuous activity (running) a good pick me up before the fuel tank runs out. Easy to open while running and small enough to carry a couple or more on adventures. GU has been around for years so they are doing something right, maybe becoming a bit more cost effective is the only thing they could improve on and maybe an edible foil pouch...kidding!

They work for me v well.
