I ordered this jig to use with my router to have repeatable mortise joints in the gates I was making. I had read some critical reviews for it, but took a punt.My experience with the fixture is very good, it is well made with the cast body giving good stability to the setup, and the clamps for attaching to wood are very effective.The guide plates are flat and straight and work very well. I took the time to scribe a line on the top of the cast plate to use for alignment with the centre mark on the timber. This is very helpful for overall accuracy of the joints.When setting up you need to take time to ensure the guide plates are square and parallel for the best results.The only improvement I have made is to swap out the m6 bolts that clamp the guide plates and replace them with star knobs, also bought on Amazon.I would recommend this fixture as it is both accurate and good value for money.

Great bit of kit once you set it up for hinges size and lock, it makes your life so much easier.

Well the jig is fine the router bit and the corner chisel not so good but they are changeable and I will buy a better quality but having said that the jig is good and for the money a bargain .

This did the job admirably. I would say that this wouldn’t be worth it for just one or two doors but I had 7 doors to change so 21 hinges. Took me about 25 minutes to set it up, (used one of the old doors to practice) but from then on it took about two minutes to do the three hinges on each door including the clamping up set up. The little corner chisel device was also a great time saver, easy to line up, one whack with a mallet and the rounded router corners were instantly square. The hinges look perfect.It’s one of those things that I’ll probably never use again but saved me so much hassle and a few hundred quid too if I’d got a carpenter in

Ordered this for use with my Makita palm router. Often I’m asked to renew hinges on doors that have been there for years and this seemed a great idea…saves me chiselling old external wooden doors that have been up for years. Upon arrival you can pretty much discard the corner chisel. It’s rubbish and as blunt as a butter knife. The edge is so chipped it would take so long to sharpen it you’d give up.The jig itself is interesting. I’ve seen someone change the nuts to wing nuts and that’s a great idea. The plates themselves are just awful though. They’re made from a poor grade of aluminium and do not slide easily at all. Both of the larger ones were bent, curving upwards so my router wouldn’t sit on it flat at all…an absolute must when using this tool! I’ve bent them back but I really expected much more. I’ve seen this tool for £35 and figured if I spent more on the same tool I’d get a ‘more finished’ version. No. I’m sure I got the same. It’s not unusable but I’ve had to do a fair bit to it to get it there.

A lot of trial and error to setup but worth it in the end. Saved myself 4 days on the job by using a router instead of a chisel. Does exactly the same job as one 4 times the price. 🙂

Easy and ajustable to use it if you have some millwork skils. I recommend you make some test on a 2x4 or a flat piece of wood before to work on your actual project, but dont count on the measurements scale you have to make the 4 plates adjusted according to your router size plate and the part that you need to attach flush to your door. REMEMBER YOU NEED SOME SKILLSBut definitely a must have tool for doors attachments
