desertcart.com: Lil' Rev – Hal Leonard Baritone Ukulele Method – Book 1 | Beginner Sheet Music | Learn Chords, Scales, Strumming and Songs | Ukulele Instruction Songbook | Teacher Resource and Gift for Musicians: 8601410457594: Lil' Rev: Books Review: Great song selection - Nice book. I'm a dulcimer player and was very pleasantly suprised to see a lot of blue grass and old time music in here. Review: Total ukulele Greenhorn - I almost threw this Ukulele out on more than one occasion. First when I tried to play it with the "instructions" it came with (finally figured out the instructions weren't for a baritone at all!) then when I started using this book. I was so upset and frustrated I was almost in tears. Then I tried reading the instructions. Yes actually sitting and reading from the cover. That's when I found the Audio link and thus the Ukulele was saved from a pretty roaring fire I had going. I figured out I'm trying to play chords when the instructions begin with individual notes. Picking rather than strumming if you will. Paired book and Audio, I finally started to get it and once I did I had to leave a review. I was honestly packing it up to give to my nephew until tonight. The Audio visual learning this inexpensive book provides is absolutely the best. If you are like me and done know the first thing about playing a ukulele, I highly highly recommend this author!

You get your money's worth with this product.
I'm 70 years old and a widower. Lonely doesn't come close to how I feel. I have an 8 year old Dachshund named Sammy who keeps me haughing, but I need something to work my brain cells before they atrophy to nothing. So, I bought a ukulele. Considered harmonica, kalimba, even some stranger things. But the guitar has always held my heart, and the ukulele is a simple place to begin, also economical. I bough a couple beginners books to train myself and help me along my way. Wish me luck?

Baritone specific book
I already know how to play standard-tuned ukuleles in gcea, but when i got my first Baritone ukulele, i had a hard time transposing or linking the new chord names with the old familiar shapes. So, even though i can already read music and tabs, i got this book to help my mind associate the chord shapes and fret positions with me note/chord names. It's been helpful with that - i just need to keep up with the practice and keep going through this book. I do appreciate that this book is not simply a replica of the standard Hal Leonard gcea lesson book, but with everything transposed for bari. This book has material unique to baritone (different songs and focal points) and stands on its own. A++

Somewhat simplistic and not comprehensive enough
If you know anything about music, especially if you know anything about playing a guitar-like instrument, you'll find this book way too simplistic; I played guitar a few decades ago and got through this book in two hours when my fingers reconnected with the fretboard. Also note that this book is titled 'Book 1', and published in 2012, but there's no 'Book 2' yet? Book 1 seems incomplete and really needs a 'Book 2' to complete the chord sets and get a few more practice songs and intro to different picking methods in the learning program. My suggestion is to get 'Baritone Ukulele From Scratch' by Bruce Emery; much more comprehensive, easy to follow, and you'll have a decent ability on the 'Uke' when you get to the last page.

So far so Good
In a fit of mid-life crisis.., I decided I wanted to play an instrument. I thought "Hey, the Ukulele, four strings, about two octaves... how hard can it be." Well, I have no musical talent (that I know of) unless you count making farting noises with my armpit in Junior High. This is a basis book, that starts with This is a Ukulele!. I found it a challenge, but each exercise, builds on the one before it, and that helps. The book includes both notes and TABs which is a big help if you want to read music. The CD that comes with it is useful, if only to hear it done right. I gave it four stars as I have no other books to compare it to, But, overall, I have no complaints.., and I'm better than I was a week ago.

Obrigada

Great comprehensive book. It's clear, concise, with pictures, chord grids that gradually progress you. The CD was handy as it allowed me to hear the speed that was expected for each exercise. . The book helped me to achieve a beginner's level of mastery on my new baritone. It taught me note reading, tablature, basic melody playing, strumming, standard right-hand strokes, essential strums, and even ukulele history. It also gives a good sized Baritone Ukulele chord chart. Glad to have had exposure to this book....helped me a lot.
