Great Read
This is a great read if you like Mythologoly. Sorry about the spelling. Very intertaining, explains a lot about the stars and constellations and how they came about and the Greek gods. Weather you believe this kind of thing or not its worth the read.

Love this book and I think you guys will too (if you also like history)😊👍👅💖
I LUV THIS BOOK !!!!!!!! It is the best history book I have read in a while and I think you guys should read it too.I have given it this rating because it teaches history but it makes it fun to learn and keeps the action of the other stories like Rick Riordans Percy Jackson series.

The classics in edible form!
It was nice to review as an adult the tales I learned as a kid. The author did a great job of describing each scene efficiently and eloquently. Nice work to read in between the chick lits and the sci-fi dramas.

Necessary to understand history
When reading history or books written over 60 years ago there are many references to Greek gods which we need to be familiar with in order to appreciate the text. Even if you don't read history or old books your knowledge of language will be increased. ie Chronos - the god of time, hence chronometer. Of course the story of his relationship with the other gods is also a great story in itself.

Great Read
Great an extremely informative - not written academically, either, which makes the content much more accessible. It's nice to see Classical Greek mythology so colorfully presented.

Telling it like it is
I have tried many times to find a book on the Greek myths that could help me understand the "family trees" of the various gods and goddesses. This one has these 'trees' drawn out in separate boxes located throughout the chapters. This book tells the stories like they were - bloods and guts, incest, cruelty, sadness, punishments, hypocrisies, wars, meanness, etc. I.E. all the things we are still fighting today.

Nicely Done
The way to think of this book is not as an academic piece of work or homework but just go with the flow. I read it to fill in gaps of the Greek mythology stories and characters as I knew some of the stories but not in any great depths. This book lays out the main Gods and Goddess's first and it feels like a bit of a trudge but stick with it! As it cleverly layers them all back into the various myths throughout the book. I loved the way it was set out and by the end had got to understand more if the stories, places and characters - which was my goal. Really nicely written the stories are fantastic in every sense of the word!

Contenu intéressant
Par contre je regrette que les cartes soient illisibles et qu'il soit impossible de les agrandir afin de suivre les parcours des héros

Timeless stories
This is a re-telling of the whole range of ancient Greek myths by a renowned classicist. While these are, of course, in themselves great timeless stories, the writing style is quite matter of fact and does not necessarily make the events sound particularly exciting, e.g. the twelve labours of Heracles section read to me as for the most part rather a dull list. The near half of the book that covers the narrative of the Iliad and the Odyssey flowed more easily, no doubt in part because these stories are so familiar, rightly some of the most famous stories in Western literature. Great illustrations throughout though, and a useful bibliography for follow up reading.
