Doesnt work, or do anything as advertised
If there was a rating LESS than 1 star that is what I would have given it! So I'm the proud owner of a 2014 Freightliner M-2 Business Class (another story for a different time) anyway, the MIL light is on and I'm in desperate need of an OBD scanner to find out what the problem is and reset it! So I did my homework researching MANY scanners and purchased one before this one that didn't work either! So while researching this one I found a deal sweetener in the form of a Battery tester! If you purchase a RD-902 Scanner Romondes would give you a "free" Battery tester, so since the Scanner (theoretically) did everything I needed (find fault code, and has a decode database to translate the problem to english, and capability to force a regen on the exhaust) or so I thought. Well, when I received the unit I got an E-mail telling me to update it before use. So I figured why not and went on line and followed their (Romondes') instructions many times in an attempt to update said scanner with no luck, every attempt met with a final message from the update program of "Failed Installation" so I was never able to achieve a successful update. Finally with their promise of being able to return the unit even if unsuccessful on the update I worked at length to update it and in the end was unsuccessful. So I went to Amazon to return it and find out the "gift" was being billed to me! Now I have a Battery tester I don't need and NO Scanner that I desperately need! Thanks for nothing to Romondes and Amazon!!

It does a good job for the price.
It does a better job than the one I bought just a couple years ago for a bit higher price. I'm looking forward the new updates coming soon.

Don’t waste your time
Trash. I didn’t have super high expectations for the cost but I did kind of expect it to work. Half the boxes on the screen are written in Hellen Keller (blank) so you just guess, after going thru them all the tool won’t even communicate to j1939 at all. Tried several different trucks. No quality control….

Decent but...
I haven't been capable if getting it to do a DPF reset and it may be an underlying issue in my truck. It is a great personal use device but I wouldn't call this a shop level tool.

Very hard to update and still doesn't do what it clames.
The only customer support is an email address and I never got a response. When I tried to return it the manufacture contacted me. Most of what they sent didn't help but watching the attached video I picked up a few things and had it updated after 5 hours.Finlay was able to connect to an engine. Unplugged a sensor and got a fault code for a different sensor. It locked up when I tried DPF. Had to unplug it, tried again, same thing.I returned it.

It did not perform it's basic function.. FAIL
I have a fleet of Frieghtliner Cascadia's with Detroit engines. First time I used this tool, the engine light was on, and the tool failed to read any DTCs. I went through the entire list and some failed to communicate, the rest said no dtc information. A scan tool is worthless if it can't perform the basic function of reading diagnostic trouble codes. It also would not perform a regen. It acted like it would, but after supposedly regening for at least an hour I looked and found the scan tool saying complete but the engine was still running at the elevated rpm. After disconnecting and restarting the engine the light was back on for dpf regen needed. This is literally the worst scan tool I have ever used. I have been a diesel technician for 20 years and used at least a dozen different scan tools. I would not recommend this scan tool to anyone.

Ripped off
The scanner would not update so it is a scam. I tried many ways to get the thing updated but no luck because the message that I get is that it is a illegal device!!!! Lost the money on a scam facilitated by amazon. The screen does not display the menu.
