Dogtra Hunter's Series 1/2 - mile Training Collar Single Dog

Purchased the Dogtra Hunter on advise of a friend after are German Shepherd puppy (Max) 4 months old at the time had to be taken out on a leash and dragged us around our propery. After placing the collar on him we were able to train him in 2 weeks to come-heal-and walk next to us without any leash,also helps from chasing other dogs and cats he responds to one word commands "come",-"no". No more shouting or screaming. Max is now 6 months old and a perfect puppy.The 3 function remote works great only used the cont. button once, we have peace in our lives thanks to Dogtra Hunter collar.

needed that extra help with my semi-agressive/oohh hey what is this, dog. this does it w/o it being seen as me punishing her. And when she gets sidetracked, to give that little tap, hey lets go. works much better than i would have thought,

My dog trainner used the same one so it's a use what the pros use type thing. This is the way forward.

I LOVE this product.It has changed my dog, a 12 pound miniature poodle. I have had the collar for about two weeks. For the first week, I just had him wear the collar a few times each day, without any electrical stimulation. The I started using it. After just two days, our dog Charley was coming when called from 100 yards away, down the beach, in the face of distractions. For the past two days, I haven't used the leash at all, for 30-45 minute walks. He comes instantly when called, from whatever distance away, even if out of sight over the grassy berm on the beach. Here are several details:-I worried before using that the collar would be too heavy, or the charge too intense. No need to worry, as our rather small dog carries it easily. Now I only use the collar in vibrate mode, at a setting or 4 or 5 out of 127 possible levels. That is, very, very low. In the beginning, I used the Nick button, but now only use the pager (vibrate) mode. Today I needed to use the collar only once, just as we left the house without a leash. Yesterday I never hit the button at all. Use the lightest level possible. If your dog jumps when you press the Nick button, it is too strong. Just look for a head turn or blink.-It's important to use the collar to reinforce commands the dog already knows, not to teach new commands. Charley and I have been doing a lot of obedience training, and he's working toward his CD title, so he knows "come". However well he reacted in class, when running free on the beach, even with a drag leash, sometimes he would come and sometimes not. Poodles know what they can get away with. Now he comes right away, every time.-A good fit and adjustment is crucial. The collar contacts need to be against the dog. I adjust so that two and only two fingers slide under the collar, and one finger will slide under the contact point.-I acclimated Charley to the collar easily in one day by taking it on and off several times, always giving him a small piece of cheese when I put it on or off. Now when I call him indoors to put the collar on, he comes eagerly while I put it on, and waits for his piece of cheese.-I followed an excellent e-collar instructional video from [...]. I recommend this highly if you are going to use an e-collar.-I recommend the 280ncp over the very similar 200ncp because the 280 has a small lcd screen that tells you exactly what the intensity level is. Since Charley is quite sensitive to even small intensity changes, the lcd display is invaluable. Small turns to the intensity dial can have a very big effect, and without the display you could be really giving your dog a jolt.-Battery life is excellent. I haven't recharged the unit since I first got it two weeks ago, despite daily use. This is a high quality product.
