For Parents Only: Getting Inside the Head of Your Kid

Great book to read

The book is very informative and the efforts placed in research are outstanding and much appreciated. I read it as preparation for myself. I have a very calm tween but I know eventually a change is going to come. I didn't find the book to have a smooth flow. I felt as if I were listening to a conversation where one party kept interrupting the other.In addition, even as a religiously active person, I found some of their religious references to be overpowering. While my personal beliefs allow me to relate and generally agree, it seemed demeaning to someone completely without or even with a different religious background. The authors mentioned multiple times that many of the surveys didn't reveal a large gap based off of religiously active children and those who held no particular religious beliefs unless they attended "private Protestant Christian schools." If that's what they found then facts are facts but I felt it's best to be acknowledged and continue with the stance of neutrality.It took a little effort to sift through but overall has good useful information. Due to that, patience is needed while reading to really be able to meditate on the application of the information based on your child's developing personality. I'm not sure it's helpful for someone in a desperate, immediate need for answers but it seems very beneficial for someone that works with teens or a parent getting advance guidance.

Enlightening.... gives you a whole new perspective from your child's view. My daughter is now 20 years old, and boy, could I have used this book along time ago .. I'm going to put it on my husbands phone so he can listen to it on his way to work in the mornings so we can talk about it.

I never received the books for some reason, but the seller was quick and polite to deal with, sending a money return. The seller claimed to have sent out the books and he has none to replace them now. Giving the quick refund. I wish to have received the books but I haven't. I would still purchase from this seller again in the future and would recommend him to do business with. Thank You.

I have 4 children and I purchased this book years ago and have read it 4 times. It has helped every time I have read it. Very insightful into the mind of a teenager! It helped us understand our kids so much.

In the middle of reading this one. I LIKE it a lot so far. I'm not Not a religious man at all. So, all of the religious references and praying made it hard to relate to at some points but I'm able able to get a good message from the book regardless.

The survey results and comments straight from the teens are very helpful in understanding how to remain calm through moodiness and disrespectful attitudes to really connect with and understand my son. The final survey narratives really remind me what we are striving for, and the reminder that I'm not in this alone is reassuring. Thank you!

This gave a healing insight to how I know my parents could have treated me better. But it showed how I could be a better parent, myself. Thank you, Shaunti, for providing hope through your words!
