Handy pump for transferring water out of tanks.
Worked great for what I wanted it for so far. I bought this unit because I have a rather large fish tank that houses a turtle. Consequently I have to change ALL the water often. I've tried pumps I got at the fish store but found them ineffiecient, especially the one that you hook to your hose and run the water to create suction. Wastes a lot of additional water with the water in the tank. I bought this to be able to empty as much water from the tank as possible in a reasonable time. With the suction plate that it comes with, I get nearly all the water out of the tank in a reasonable amount of time. I've used it on my tank and my pond that I temporarily keep the turtle during cleanings and had no issues. It is a bit noisy in that it whines, but most pumps of this style make similar noise, and its only on for the short time needed to empty each. As for durability, only time will tell. My guess is that those that had issues didn't lubricate the impellor before use as directed. When dry, like when it's not primed, the impeller can heat up quickly. This isn't a problem once the fluid is flowing, but while first sucking up the fluid without being primed it will heat up quickly and probably deform since the impellor appears to be plastic or rubber.

Sturdy and works well, but tricky to setup correctly
The pump works well, and it feels pretty sturdy. The motor is solid and runs for hours without problems. However, it turns out that one has to place the outgoing hose very carefully and ensure it has no kinks and the water flow is unimpeded: despite my checking carefully for kinks, as the hose was a high-quality, sturdy one, but it retained the curvature of when it had been stored (we couldn't lay it flat on the ground) initially, and for several hours, the water flow was just a trickle; only when I figured out a way to make it flow more freely, the pump finally made its job quickly. Anyway, we could easily drain our hot tub, and once one figures out the trick it works well, so I would recommend it to other buyers. UPDATE - following my initial review, the seller actually offered a full refund, which is amazing, as the product works really well (and I stated that much) and it was more a "operator error" than a product shortcoming: this definitely gets them a 5-star rating, as they really care about their customers! (and, no, I declined their offer as I couldn't really accept it in good conscience; much as I appreciated the gesture, the product works just fine!).

Should have known better
should have known better. Tested it at the house for ten minutes and worked fine. Was a little slow but it worked. A few days later when we were out camping miles from any where it failed after fifteen minutes of pumping water. I did prime and had the pump full of water before I plugged it in. The motor was stuck and would not turn. When it did run it was very loud. To transfer water for a standard RV water tank you better bring your lunch it will take forever. So as a water pump it does not perform and is not reliable, as a $60.00 paper weight it works great.

A Must Have for Serious Aquarist!
I gave it a 4-star because it doesn't have an on/off switch, you have to plug/unplug, but outside of that, for nearly 10 years I went back and forth with a bucket to the toilet ... but I wanted a 100gal tank and I knew i couldn't be doing that at 60 - my kids watch me with wonder each week as I clean the tanks. People love aquariums but don't want to do the work, its intimidating. Finally I found this pump. The only advice I ever get is from my neighborhood Asian store and Youtube videos. This was a good buy .. I bought a 50ft water hose, and I water my plants front and back with the water.. My 45gal tank is for small fish who WONT STOP HAVING BABIES .. so I can't use for that tank because I don't want them to get sucked-up, but the 55 and 100 gal. tanks are no problem. Water flows good, a little noisy but no big deal, price is cheap compared to convenience. Go ahead, buy it!

Great Pump - company support not so great!
The Pump works very well and it has been put to the test a few times since purchase. The gaskets broke and only one other was given in the box. We have been unable to get product support and have emailed the company only to have the messages returned. Calling the company numbers have been unsuccessful as well. This is frustrating and a something to consider when making your purchase. Three months of attempting to get support.

Expect to change it often
I use it for a pedicure bowl at my salon, it does the job, however I have to replace it once a year. The motor can’t handle more than one year use

Efficient cute little pump
This is a very good and cute little pump. Right size for watering lawn and garden from a rain barrel. It pretty low decibel at the same time gives a different sound when the barrel is almost out of water. You can use it to transfer water from in barrel (with down spouts) to a stand alone barrel. It is very light to attach it to a wooden board. It’s not a submersible pump so be very careful before starting the pump. Also you need to prime it with 2-3 tsp’s of water. Very easy and simple to use it. It took this motor 10-12 min to empty a 50 gal barrel. I highly recommend this product to other shoppers.

Muy decepcionado
Compré esta bomba para sacar agua de un tinaco. Lo usé solo 2 veces y funcionó bien. La tercera ya no succionó el agua. Quedé muy decepcionado.

excellent pump
I have had thw pu.p for a few tears now and it works as describe. Pros: -Works great, have used it for draining the water from a pool to allow for a patch to be installed and from the cover of a pool from melted snow Cons: - wish an additional hose came with it -the black end pice for placing in thw water does not always stay on. it should be a threaded co section instead of push on
