Easy to use, great results
I've been looking at heated solder pumps for some time, having done some tricky repairs on aluminium backed circuit boards and motherboards with plated through holes, both scenarios result in the solder setting between heating the joint and then moving normal solder pumps into position. Decided to take a chance on this given the unbeatable price. Most pro heated solder pumps come in at hundreds of pounds, so although this model isn't a continuous pump, the price is very attractive. I was very pleased with how this pump is put together, the pump, or sucker, is a two part cylinder allowing you to easily clean the removed solder. It interfaces with the heated tip via a silicone seal which results in excellent solder removal. Before switching the pump on, I tested the suction by blocking the tip with my thumb. It showed typical levels of suction with the plunger stopping around half way back up it's travel until I removed my thumb. In practice, I was able to use this pump to remove a faulty voltage regulator. The larger pins on this sort of component have given me trouble in the past, so I was very pleased with the pump's performance in this task. Using the tip installed on delivery, I was able to fit the tip right over each pin. As the solder melted, the tip dropped down to the surface of the board as I'd expected. Releasing the plunger then removed all but a slight plating on the circuit board track in one go. Repeated on the other two pins, the component was removed in three actions. It is possible to use a little fresh solder to improve the transmission of heat to the joint, but I didn't find that to be necessary. The pump comes with an extra tip - one is 1mm and the other 1.2mm if I remember correctly, and a couple of o ring spares for the pump. The package also contains a small stand which I didn't use, having access to another soldering iron holder in my work holding. I was initially surprised by how this pump goes together, the cylinder gives the impression that it should have more of a positive clip engagement, but mine doesn't click into place, just sitting over the orange clips. On further inspection, I could see that the pump was sitting correctly. However, in using this pump I didn't find any problem in its construction and not having to unclip the pump to quickly remove solder from the pump turned out to be a bonus. As mentioned in the description, I did find that there was a little white smoke when I first turned it on. That stopped during operation. The pump features a power led on the rear to remind you that it's turned on. There are no power or temperature controls on the pump. I would definitely recommend this pump. The price Vs performance makes it a no brainer for home projects or home repairs, so much easier to use than a typical domestic solder pump.

Very cool
This is the first device of this type that I've owned. I had been trying to de-solder components using copper braid, which was a total mess, took many attempts, and put far too much heat into my boards by the time I was successful (burn marks, dry solder, etc.). I have no idea how this product compares to other products in its class, but compared to how I was doing it before, this thing is like magic... I pop the suction button, and the solider is gone, leaving a clean hole. The most satisfying part is how components just drop out of the circuit board on their own. The only disappointment I felt when using this, is that I didn't have more things to de-solder. I was actually looking around the room for more things to use it on, because I found the experience so satisfying and liberating. I'm not sure how I'd rate this item in particular, compared to other devices that do the same thing, since this is the only one I've ever used, but it works better than I ever expected. It has created a mental shift in me, where I can look at a component and think nothing of de-soldering it, where before I would groan and think "Oh God, here we go with an ordeal". This is so easy and fast, that I actually look forward to de-soldering components... because it's one-shot per "leg", and I get the satisfying rattle of a component falling on my desk after almost no work. I had thought of getting a higher-end model that does the suction automatically, but I couldn't justify the cost for my little hobby. I expected this to be a second-rate solution, and a compromise, but it really wasn't... the silly little suction tube doesn't look like much, but I can't fault the results. Clean holes and components just falling out of the board. This is probably a weird review with how excited I am about it, but it really has been one of my best "new toys" in a long time. If you're struggling-by with copper braid or lifting out one component-leg at a time like I was, this thing is like a dream, a total game-changer.

Effective solder sucker!
I have found it hard sometimes clearing a thru hole in a PCB and found this product does make it easier. The heat and sucker combined is effective. There is a power on LED but no switch. You treat the tip like a normal soldering iron although I did find it a little hard to tin at first. Included is a spare tip and a cleaning needle as well as a couple of O rings - wherever they go?! It could do with a proper stand - I used a spare iron holder I had. Would recommend.

Every bit as useful as I’d hoped!
After reading several mixed ratings reviews I thought I’d give this tool a try. I had been trying to replace a thumb stick from my old Xbox controller due to controller drift, and it’s been so difficult with a standard soldar sucker that I damaged/lifted one of the mounting track portions (thankfully this one doesn’t seem to be necessary). When I saw this tool I hoped it would be much cleaner and faster at removing the soldar, but the reviews were a little mixed, so I bought it with a little concern as the price is not cheap! But if it didn’t work then I was prepared to return it as “not fit for purpose”. When I first turned it on it smoked a fair bit due to being new, I actually re-soldered some of the joints that were badly desoldered so the new tool would have an easier job of heating all the soldar, then I used this desoldar sucker iron and, wow, just wow, the results speak for themselves! Super easy to use, I had been concerned that the hole in the tip might be too large but it was perfect for the small joints. Wish I’d known about this tool a couple of years ago as it would have made several other small repair jobs much easier! X-Box controller now works normally again :D The only down side I would say is that the clip holding the suction device in place is not very strong, I may supplement this with a Velcro cable tidy or something similarly simple, but I don’t believe this detracts from the resounding success this little tool produced.

Great for the price but don't expect a Rolls Royce
For the money, this thing is great. It's not going to work for every situation but for all the through hole components that I've used it on, it has worked brilliantly. Sure, if you have the money, buy a proper desoldering system but for occasional use this is far superior to a soldering iron and desoldering pump.

No replacement nozzle
At first I was very pleased with it as it does the job splendidly. Unfortunately, the nozzle didn’t last a month and can’t find any genuine replacement.

Just didn't work for me.
I don’t know why this product has 5-star reviews, my experience in using this product is all but negative. I was under the illusion that using this desoldering device would made easy work of fitting new capacitors. Instead, it took over 10 attempts to desolder each post to remove the caps and it still didn’t remove all the solder from the board leaving the hole blocked. I ended up just using a soldering iron to remove the remaining caps has using this so-called desoldering pump just made the job more time consuming. Therefore, I don’t recommend this product and I shall be returning it for a refund. I suppose you get want you pay for, like a good many Chinese made products on the market.

Good product
This is good if there is a thermocouple to control the heating temp.
