How do I use this? Do I match the sound of the red cylinders with the blue cylinders?

The first lesson given to the child is to match the loudest to the softest sound with the red & blue set by shaking them to your ear using only three fingers (any more fingers on the object can mute the sound). The loudest sound stays in your left hand as you go through the line trying to find the cylinders match the sound you're identifying in hand. It doesn't matter what color you start with. Once completed you flip the cylinders over and see if red & blue you paired together have the same number or color marked on the bottom (you must predetermine/premark on your own). The second lesson is to grade the sounds using the same color from loudest to softest using only one set of cylinders. (This is how I was taught in my Montessori training)

Frankly, the sounds were not very different at all. I am familiar with Montessori materials and this one did not compare favorably. I suspect the manufacturer of this product was not Montessori certified.

Great Budget Montessori Material

For what you pay, it works great. If you have a classroom or home set up on a budget, this will get the job done. Decent quality, the sounds are easily distinguishable. Not the same level of what you would expect from a proper Montessori brand but very much so passable!

Me parece que los sonidos son muy parecidos me gustaría algo que se percibiera mas la diferencia de los sonidos; otro punto es que vienen marcados por debajo una vez que el niño se da cuenta pues la curiosidad hace que los empareje por la marca perdiendo la función real de estos

Mr. Blue Dot Is Not Okay

This is a beautifully crafted set. However, mine arrived with one blue dot cylinder and three red dot cylinders. Unless the pedagogical objective is to teach existential loneliness and competitive dynamics, the set is incomplete. Please send Mr. Blue Dot cylinder a friend.
