Sin and redemption
This marvelous story poem, written by a woman deeply embedded in religious life, can be read on many levels, some quite earthy. Redeemed by a sister's love (and what kind of love?) the sinner's life again becomes whole. Or maybe it's just a story of goblins trading in the forest... The Arthur Rackham drawings accompany the story as beautifully as he intended. If you think all Victorians were prissy and frilly, give Goblin Market a look.

Beautiful poem, beautiful illustrations
This is a classic poem beautifully illustrated. It would be best appreciated by older children and ageless adults.

Not for you if you’re not an avid reader
I still haven’t finished reading this book. I am determined to complete the book but honestly it can’t keep me focused for long.I may come back to add to this review

enjoyed this book a lot
I really like fantasy books and this was really good. I love Arthur Rackham's artwork and add that to Christina Rossetti's poetry, you can't lose. Also since this is from Dover Publications that is a plus. The hardback edition is more than I normally like to spend for books, but classics like this are well worth the extra money because you'll keep it forever.

Good reference
Nice to own but very cheap printing. Nice to see images up close.

If you want a better choice that is also hardcover
This book only has ONE of Arthur Rackham's four color prints. If you want a better choice that is also hardcover, get the Dover Fine Art version.

Classic Poetry Illustrated
Love the classic Rackham illustrations. The book is fine for children, but also great for adults interested in the poetry of Christina Rossetti.

Another fabulous little Penguin Classic
The great thing about these little Penguins is that you can pick up something by and author of which you have no prior knowledge and sample their delights for a pound or less.I didn't think I knew or had read anything by Christina Rossetti. I suspect most people would say the same not knowing that YuleTime Salvation Army Brass Band Favourite "In The Bleak Midwinter" is based on one of her poems (confusing called "A Christmas Carol"). So I learned something there. But that is not the highlight of this slim volume of verse. The titular work, Goblin Market is the stand out piece here. It is whimsical and humourous and fun. And I liked it. There are also some mursery rhymes that are quite amusing and some of ther other poems could easily be set to music as they have a nice rthym and pace. Maybe some of them already have been. Christina Rossetti's other well known peice "Remember" is not included here. Perhaps the compender of this "forgot" to include it. Perhaps not.

Not as expected.
I have loved this poem from being a child and adore Arthur Rackham's illustrations. Having read the description"The edition of ‘Goblin Market’ is also accompanied by a series of dazzling colour illustrations by Arthur Rackham (1867-1939)." I thought this would be perfect. No. If I had seen this in a book shop I would have put it back. There is only one illustration in colour. Not all the line drawings are consistent with this poem. Very disappointed.

Not worth the price.
For the price I thought this was going to be actually illustrated throughout. However, there is the cover illustration reprinted again and tiny illustrations about the size of £2 coin between a handful of stanzas. Not worth anywhere near this cost. Regret buying it.

Where are the colour illustrations?
I bought this book expecting to find colour illustrations throughout. I am very disappointed to see that there is only one colour illustration and this is a copy of the cover. I was hoping to be inspired by Rackham's interpretation. There are several small drawings to illustrate the text, but really I could have saved myself a lot of money and read the text online. This is not a book: more a booklet.

Great value
A well produced slim little book of Rosetti’s poetry containing Goblin Market and a selection of her other poems. This series of Penguin Classics is tremendous value for money.
