Some say these stakes are hollow, others say there is a thin metal rod inside. Can't be both, so which one is it?

These are plastic coated hollow rods. The cylinder shape is stronger than a thin solid rod. The only time they break is when I bend them when pushing vigorously into hard clay. They work quite well in the garden.

Can these be used to hold up 4ft. chicken wire fencing?

I use it to hold up 28" rabbit fencing and it works great. Keep in mind that it needs to be pounded in the ground a ways, so it will end up shorter than 48"tall depending how far you pound it into the ground. If your fencing is 48" as well, you might want to take that into consideration.

Will these hold up pepper plants?

The stakes will hold up pepper plants and tomatoes , they will bend if you really pressure them but as long as you don't kink the bend you will not have to cut them which is easily done with pruning shears or tin snips to customize lengths best stakes I ever used

What is the diameter of each stake? I need to know exactly to see if I can use them.
