The research I've done on Alpha Lipoic Acid indicates R-Lipoic Acid is the most effective form of ALA.

This is extremely potent when it comes to reducing my blood glucose level. One pill puts me in hypoglycemia within 2 hours of ingestion after a meal with about 40g of total carb (and yes I count my carbs and I check my blood sugar levels with meters). It does get the job done for me, but perhaps *too* well for me. A little more warning on the label about this might help. Granted, it does give me a lot of energy if I add more carbs to my meal, which I make sure that I do when I plan to ingest R-lipoic acid from this brand.I now use this along with other "protection" supplements in special circumstances when I use certain prescribed stimulant class medications, which can sometimes really spike my blood glucose level, as measured by the meters. It seems that my body can't get rid of the excess adrenaline fast enough or something. Regardless of how some stimulants sometimes raise my blood glucose level, supplements like lipoic acid (especially r-lipoic acid from this brand) have been useful in quickly dropping my BG level when it comes up too high.I've used this product as needed for at least 5 years.

Have purchased this twice after developing small fiber neuropathy as it was advised as a possibly long term remedy. I have taken it for about 6 months regularly taking 2 capsules every morning. My neuropathy symptoms have not improved but have not worsened. Neuropathy is often times not reversible. I find it does keep some of the pain at bay though. One huge benefit I have noticed is the blood sugar benefits. I take 2 every morning on an empty stomach (this is essential) with acetyl l-carnitine. I wait and hour to eat. I can have a breakfast with a good amount of carbohydrates and still see a very nice drop in blood sugar levels an hour after eating. My levels were in the 70's and hour after eating after 2 waffles, sausages and coffee with sugar. If you are someone looking to keep blood sugar at bay without medicine. Consider taking this in combination with Acetyl L-Carnitine. I have actually seen great benefit in that department. Wish it would miraculously cure neuropathy but not happening as of yet. Seems to be a very good supplement though.

This is a caution for international buyers of this product.The product is good and I have no issue with it. But the expiry date of the products that Amazon delivered has been wildly erratic. This is a concern for me as being overseas, I typically keep a 12-months stock due to the long order lead time.In my orders of 2021 September, October and November, the expiry date has been 2023-10. This is fine. But in the orders I placed on December, the expiry date became 2023-05 while those from the orders I placed on January has an even earlier expiry date of 2023-01. From its earlier deliveries having a shelf life of 24 moths (2 years), the shelf life of the recent deliveries have dropped to just 11 months.I am now looking at ordering this item from other online sellers which has a longer shelf life. iHerb for example shows the expiry date of the product I am buying. The price is similar so I will be placing my order for this item there instead.
