How do i keep the rope from moving with the height adjusters?

We have this hung from a tree. The tension of the rope against the adjustments hold it in place. Never had a problem with it moving.

is it able to go in a bedroom on the ceiling?

I don't see why not as long as you have the ceiling support and can hook into studs.
