Preferred the second half!
Ok, so I really do enjoy dark romance but for some reason this book just didn't do it for me.I think there is just too much knowledge of how the heroine is hurt and seeing her actually sleep with another man for money, broke my heart. I know this kind of thing happens but when reading romance, dark or not I didn't want that much where I experience this pain with her. Yes, it's selfish and it's my own problem but I want people who are going to read this to know what they are getting themselves into.On the other side of that, I actually did love the second half of the book. The connection between our two main characters was out of this world, I love how he looks after her and showing her how manning life and sex can be. The second half of the book was much better for me and while I understand why Pam wrote the first half I feel like without it or a different way would have been better for me.It is also an age gap romance that starts when the heroine is 17, I don't have a problem with this at all, I met my husband at that age and it was the best decision I made. My only other wise is that there was more of en epilogue because I love to know more and am greedy with the future. This is my honest and unbiased review.

Dark Notes
I saw loads of Pam Godwin floating about Bookstagram and it all looked quite dark and delicious so I thought I'd give this a go.I've got to admit age gap's don't usually do it for me. The Dad's best friend type don't really do it for me because usually there's just too big a gap. One of Erin's all time favourite reads is Birthday Girl and I've attempted to read it so many times and I just can't. One age gap I don't mind is student/teacher but only when it's not a massive age gap and everyone is legal! Despite her rough background Ivory is attending a very prestigious performing arts college. She thinks her dreams of going on to further her education at * are over when, with only a year to go her teacher, the only one that seems to want her at the school, leaves. However she's replaced by the incredibly talented and hot Emeric Marceaux. There is immediate attraction on both sides when Emeric mistakes Ivory for a teacher and Ivory can't take her eyes off of Mr Marceaux. There is incredible chemistry between the two but it was his needs to protect her, something she hadn't had in so long, that made him most attractive. This becomes so much more than a taboo romance. It's an incredible love story that shows what a person can achieve when they have someone in their corner, fighting their case, protecting and nurturing them every step of the way.A perfect read if you're looking for something slightly taboo but not too dark!

Absolute consuming read
It has taken me an absolute age to get round to reading this; I have had in on my kindle for a couple of years and always been put off because I thought it was going to be a sex fest. How misguided I was.... don't get me wrong, a steamy sex scene between two characters that just click is great but I like there to be a story, progression and development as well. Too many authors use sex scene after sex scene as filler to mask the weak storyline. This book ticked all my boxes so I'm glad I finally took the plunge!Born on opposites sides of the track; Ivory had just about the worst living situation you could ever imagine yourself in. Emerick the gifted, beyond wealthy, male alpha dominant was her teacher. In the end it wasn't just piano lessons he was teaching...This guy was the man on the white horse that charges in and saves the damsel. He certainly gave my skin goosebumps and tingles down my spine in the most delicious of ways.Great characters, secondary characters and plot development. This definitely has become my favourite Pam Godwin book!

A dark and sexy must-read
Dark Notes is soooooo good! Many readers have described this as a dark romance novel and yes, there are scenes that I found difficult to read due to the situations Ivory found herself in, but I personally didn’t find it too dark. I absolutely loved seeing Emeric and Ivory together – especially when their relationship overstepped teacher-student boundaries. After everything that Ivory has been through all I wanted for her was to live a happy and successful life. I loved her strength and determination. She truly is an incredible and talented young lady.I quickly fell under Emeric’s spell as I can imagine everyone does. I absolutely adore that man. I loved how he helped and cared for Ivory - showing her what a loving relationship is, even when being his dominant and kinky self. The acceptance and support that his parents gave him were wonderful to witness too.As well as Dark Notes having a great storyline and fabulous characters, a highlight for me was the twists and turns throughout the book. I was unable to determine how Emeric and Ivory’s story would unfold as they continuously found themselves in situations which could have seen them facing the consequences of their actions. This added tension and angst, and made it a real page-turner of a story. The sexual chemistry between the couple is palpable and I loved how the author penned the physical side of their relationship. There are reasons why they shouldn’t be together but I could see how perfect they are for each other, and was rooting for them from the moment they met.Dark Notes is a story that I highly recommend to you to read.

Mr Marceaux 😍🥵
This is a first for me by this author and It won’t be my last for sure!Ivory’s life is one of tragedy and suppression whilst Emeric’s is one of privilege and dominance, when their worlds collide their chemistry is undeniable but she’s his Student and he’s her Teacher 🔥This story was captivating from the very beginning, Ivory, despite the disasters of her past and current circumstances, was strong willed and doing what she needed to do in order to reach her dreams of a better life 🎹Mr Marceaux aka Emeric, this man! 🥵I felt his power and dominance radiating off the pages, he’s easily one of my favourite male characters to read about, EVER even though he can be an a-hole 😍The plot was brilliant, and all the side characters both good and bad added so much to the story and kept it interesting throughout 🙌🏽This story is a brilliant one, I’d definitely recommend you will not be disappointed 🎼 🖤
