Q: These are so cute, but they smell terrible! I saw the images saying they were 100% food grade silicone, but that can't be true. What are they made of?

Thank you for this question! Our plates are made of 100% food grade silicone. After investigating feedback about the smell we have concluded that some of the poly-bags used for packaging, while passing safety requirements, did maintain a strong odor. We will are no longer using those poly-bags and will introduce new packaging that is much more appealing and gift-able shortly. We encourage anyone who detects a strong odor to return the item and wait for our new packaging to be released. We have received feedback that cleaning the plates with vinegar and baking soda will remove the smell.

Q: Are they microwave safe?

Food Grade Silicone is safe to microwave. Our plates, as well as our lids, are made from 100% Food Grade Silicone. You can find our test reports available in a previous answer. As well as being microwaveable and freezer friendly as Food Grade Silicone can withstand high degrees of hot and cold. This marking will be found on plates sold later this year.

Q: Do the plates come with lids for storage?

These plates come with premium silicone lids that are made from BPA, Phthalate and Lead free, 100% food grade silicone. They wrap gently around the top of the plate making them perfect for storing meals in your refrigerator or freezer for later use. Unlike plastic lids our silicone lids are more durable and less susceptible to cracking and breaking.

Q: Has the problem with the odor related to the packaging been resolved?

Thank you for asking this question! The issues related to the odor will be resolved when our new packaging becomes available which we expect to happen in mid-June. Using this gift box for packaging will have a number of benefits, most of all is we will not have the same issues with odor that we experienced with our older packaging.
