Please use as directed... and it'll work great. More is NOT better.
There's a really long review on here that claims that the scent of this product made a home uninhabitable. I just want to point out that this product is effective but yes, essential oils are strongly scented. However, if you read that review and others that claim the scent is too much, you'll note that they've used far too much of this product. One review claims to have used more than 3/4 of the bottle in what seems like 1 or 2 applications. That's an alarming overuse! Too Much! Note: it's a 16 oz bottle and if you were using essential oils on their own they are typically dispensed in DROPS. Spraying 1/2 a bottle is way outside the recommended use of this product so it's not surprising the user had some challenges. Another review also complains of the scent but verifies they are using 2-3 times a day which is also not the recommended usage. Recommended usage is reapplication every 1-2 WEEKS.I have tested this product and like that it is natural, safe, and effective. My gnat problem is greatly diminished after a few uses and I'm sure after one additional dose I'll be in the clear. My plants are all still healthy. The gnats are not. That's all I am looking for in this product. Please read all reviews but note what the recommended usage is and weigh the review against that before making a decision. I find this product to be exactly what I am looking for without harmful chemicals and the bonus of a nice essential oils scent when used properly.12/2024 update: My Gnats are gone 100%. My plants all still survive. I suggest spraying as directed on the schedule that is recommended. Do not soak your plants. Don't overspray the leaves. The gnats and the eggs live in the soil, so spray the soil as directed on the bottle and your gnats won't survive. I'm SUPER happy with this product. It was safe, natural, and easy to use. I have more than 1/2 bottle remaining of the one and only bottle I purchased. (I had to treat all the plants in a single room, so approximately 25 pots/plants needed treatment.)

Great product
Clean smell, safe for plants if used according to the directions. Wish they still had this product in stock

Damaged plants
I was given a new plant and with it a gnat problem. I tried using the sticky traps and thought that took care of the issue but the next cycle they were back in full force. I purchased this based on the positive reviews, but would not recommend for several reasons. The smell is pleasant at first, but it is VERY strong and does not dissipate. I used this product over a week ago and my home still smells very strongly of peppermint/citronella. Additionally, the label states safe for indoor use but after treating plants in only 3 rooms of my house, I got an air quality notification from our EcoBee that the air quality was poor and VOC levels were extremely high. I stopped treating with this product leaving the rest of my plants untreated knowing that defeats the purpose but at that point I was realizing the odor doesn’t go away and the mint was so strong it was starting to burn my son’s eyes (he wasn’t even on the same floor as me). I had to open windows (in January) for two days to get the air quality to drop to acceptable levels. Note that I had used 3/4 of the bottle in a 3,500sf home and it almost made it uninhabitable. Lastly, the instructions say to test on one leaf for an hour prior to treating. I have probably 100 plants so I chose 5 plants to test on and actually waited several hours since I tested before work and treated in the afternoon. The leaves showed no issues at the time, but treatment for gnats was to soak the soil, which is what I did. I didn’t notice any issues until a few days later when several plants started to droop. The guidance for the test is not sufficient. I’m pretty disappointed. Some of my plants will not recover. Others I’m hoping will pull through. Many, like my peace lily, I’ve had for years and we’re very large healthy plants. I do not recommend using this product.I treated the rest of the plants with a BioAdvance 3-1 spray and that had no I’ll affect on those plants. I’m hopeful between the two, the gnat issue is taken care of.

Smells amazing but doesn’t eliminate gnats long term
Was using it every week and it would work for a couple of days but the gnats just come back. Bottle didn’t last long for me as I have a dozen or so plants. It made for the best all natural air freshener though! Whole house smells AMAZING and no icky chemicals that make your throat burn. Unfortunately I’ve had to switch to hydrogen peroxide followed up by mosquito bits. To be fair I think I have a pretty bad case of it. May work if you just have a few hanging around.

Only killed what it hit on impact, didnt help with the overall issue.
I wanted to love this but it really wasn't as effective as I had hoped. When you end up getting a swarm of bugs in your plants you really have to go to a nursery and get the strong stuff and this wasn't it. Sure it killed a few bugs on impact but after that, it did not stop them from growing.

It works
Because I’m used to seeing a gnat here and there, I didn’t anything of it when I started to get slapped in the face constantly by bugs. When one a day became two or three a day, I realized too late that I had a problem. My four peace lilies were infested with fungus gnats, and the mother plant had it worse of all. I bought a few yellow sticky traps and after much research and picking through the reviews, this product. Three of the peace lilies were gnat free in a matter or two days. The mother plant was still infested, though, and new gnats were hatching. After three treatments, I saw a reduction but was still at war with it. Finally I ended up unearthing the infected plant and found out I forgot to pull out the drainage plug and the soil wasn’t ever completely drying out. Oops! I’m giving this product five stars because, even though it didn’t completely get rid of the problem in the last plant, at least it kept the infestation at bay until I had time to further investigate.
