Raccoons are a vector for rabies (and other things). If you come in contact, wash immediately. If bitten, you should consider yourself infected. Rabies is fatal to people if not treated timely. Raccoons should be afraid of humans, if not, have them removed unless you are a trained trapper or hunter who is familiar with how to properly trap or dispatch the animal and properly dispose. This spray may stop a rabid animal, it would definitely stop one that is not rabid. If you see any animal acting unnaturally, best to get away if possible and call someone that knows how to handle.

The shelf life of Mace Brand Bear Spray (Model #80346) is three years. This is a mandate from the EPA for all Bear Sprays on the market. Mace Brand does not recommend storing Bear Spray at or below freezing temperatures and it should not be exposed or stored at or above 130 degrees F.

•	Storage Recommendation: Store your Pepper Spray in cool dry area away from heat, flame or strong light. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not store it in an environment where the temperature may exceed 130 degrees F (54 degrees C) such as an enclosed vehicle. The Pepper Spray cartridge may leak from over pressurization and fail to function properly as a result of excessively high temperatures. Do not store unit in a cold environment under 32 degrees F (0 degrees C). This may cause depressurization and the loss of effective range.

If i were to drive a 1995 dodge caravan through a hiking trail, how many coats should i apply to the paint to completely bear-proof it?

Depends on the paint. If the paint is as old as the car, I assume it is rather faded and porous. If so, a single coat should do the trick, as this stuff will linger for days if it has something to seep into. If the paint is more glossy, definitely follow your capsaicinoid coat with a sealant afterward to keep it from washing off in the rain. However, your best bet to bear-proof your car is simply to lock your doors.
