Nice tool to have for the price
I’ve been using the Temper TP30 infrared thermometer gun for a while now, and it’s been a great addition to my toolbox. The first thing I noticed is how quick and easy it is to use—just point, pull the trigger, and you get an instant reading. The display is clear and easy to read, even in lower light, which makes it really convenient when working in garages or darker areas. Accuracy has been solid for my needs. I’ve used it to check engine temps, HVAC vents, cooking surfaces, and even around the house for insulation leaks, and it’s been consistent every time. It feels well-built but still lightweight, so it’s easy to handle for extended use. Battery life has been good so far, and I appreciate that it doesn’t chew through batteries quickly. Overall, for the price, this is a reliable and handy tool that gets the job done. Definitely recommend it for DIYers, homeowners, or anyone who needs quick temperature readings without hassle.

Great to measure SURFACE/EXTERNAL food temperature (for INTERNAL readings, need probe)
I just got this today and have only used it to check the temperature of my oven, but it confirmed what I had expected: the temperature of my oven is off and unbalanced. I had suspected this because what I baked or warmed up took much longer than the recipes said was needed for baking, but this nifty dual laser temperature gun -- it is a gun so don't point it at anyone, especially the eyes, it will blind you or others quickly and permanently -- works very easily. One can not only check the temperature easily by a simply point, squeeze, release, and read the measurement, but the device has a memory of the minimum and maximum temperature readings, so you can target different spots of the oven and assess where it is hottest, coldest, or most consistent. It also allows you to see how far the temperature has dropped after you've opened your oven to check what's inside. Advice: don't open your oven often to check what is inside or the temperature will drop. I still have to wait to see if this device holds up well over time or will fall apart, but from initial impression, it seems like a really nice temperature to read SURFACE temperature (e.g. the temperature of the inside of an oven (but not meat or fish temperature; for internal temperature of food one must always use a food thermometer with a probe that sticks into the food). the temperature of oil you are using to fry chicken, etc. (so that the temperature doesn't overheat and burn your food because the oil is too hot, and/or, the oil gets hotter than that specific oil is designed for and hence becomes carcinogenic or transforms into a trans fat oil even though it was originally a non-trans fat oil. Aside: oils that have exceeded their hot point that they were designed for develop hydrogenated molecules, thereby converting the previous non-trans-fat oil into trans fat. If you burn even past this point, the oil not only has become trans fat but also becomes carcinogenic. there are other uses for this SURFACE/EXTERNAL HEAT food thermometer, but remember, you'll need a different thermometer to read the INSIDE/INTERNAL HEAT temperature of food (meat, fish, desserts, etc.). Now I can adjust my oven so that what I bake in the oven is actually the precise temperature the recipe says it should be. for example, my oven is about 30-40 degrees colder than what the temperature says it is, so if I wish to cook at 350 degrees, I now know, thanks to this surface temperature thermometer after taking several readings of the oven temperature that I should set my oven to 380 degrees in order for my oven to bake at the actual 350 degrees recommended by the recipe. To draw an analogy from flying planes, in flying there is TRUE air speed (how fast the plane is actually flying) versus AIR SPEED (as it appears on your speed dial (which is affected by tail winds, head winds, altitude, how heavy the plane is loaded, etc.). In cooking, their is similarly OVEN TEMPERATURE (as the heat dial indicates) versus TRUE OVEN TEMPERATURE (what this easy-to-use device provides you if you use it as instructed). And do read (and keep) the instruction booklet that comes with the device; it tells you what 16 different parts of your ThermoPro food gun does. It does come with batteries and even has a battery gauge that visually shows you the energy status of the battery.

Accurate, easy to use, and very handy
This infrared thermometer works really well and is extremely easy to use. The readings are quick and accurate, which makes it perfect for cooking, grilling, pizza ovens, and even checking surface temperatures around the house. The laser makes it easy to aim, and the display is clear and easy to read. It feels solid in hand and doesn’t feel cheap. I like how fast it gives results without needing to touch hot surfaces. It’s been very useful for making sure pans, grills, and cooking surfaces are at the right temperature. Overall, this is a great tool to have if you cook or grill often. I’m giving five stars because it’s reliable, convenient, and does exactly what it claims.

Professional Precision for Home & Shop!
The TempPro TP30 Infrared Thermometer (formerly branded under ThermoPro) is a versatile, non-contact measurement tool that is just as useful in the kitchen as it is in the garage. It offers a wide temperature range and advanced features that make it much more capable than basic entry-level models. What I liked: Wide Temperature Range: Measuring from -58°F to 1022°F, it can handle everything from checking a freezer's performance to monitoring the stone temperature in a high-heat pizza oven. Adjustable Emissivity: This is a standout feature for this price point. By adjusting the emissivity (0.10 to 1.00), you get much more accurate readings on different surfaces like shiny stainless steel, cast iron, or soapstone. Built-in Max Function: The "Max" measure feature allows you to scan a large area (like a griddle or engine block) and automatically captures the highest temperature detected, which is perfect for finding "hot spots." Excellent Distance Ratio: With a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio, you can safely measure hot surfaces from a distance—a 1-inch area can be measured from 12 inches away. User-Friendly Design: The backlit LCD is easy to read in dark environments, and it features an auto-off function to preserve the 9V battery life. This is an essential tool for anyone who wants to take the guesswork out of cooking or home maintenance. It’s durable, fast, and provides the precision needed for specialized tasks like sourdough baking or HVAC troubleshooting.
