Chameleon Art Products, Multicolor Tones Pencils, with Convenient Storage Case - 50 Colors

I took an honest look at these pencils in comparison to many artist quality pencils (Prisma, Faber-Castell, Staedlter, Dewent etc). The pigment is not as true as I would like, however, a color chart cures this, as with many other in this price range. I contacted the company to find out what the pencils actually are a wax based pencil. Gamisol did not blend them any better than just layering. So skip that if you were thinking it! I was slightly surprised as they do not really move on the paper like wax. They are very creamy and I was happy that they did not leave a lot of harsh lines even with the sharpest of points. This is fantastic for beginners and advanced artist as we all sometimes put that pencil down too hard. I did this once right after sharpening the pencil but was able to easily blend out the harsh line. This, of course, is due to what appears to be a very high-quality wax used for the pencils I found the more I used them the more I had to lay much more color down. The two-tone aspect where all you do is flip the pencil is a selling point for some but for me, it was a bit annoying as I would like to get a full-length pencil for the amount of money I spend. NOW to be fair, the pencils do work well together, but I did not find myself using the tones they had put together. Which is why art is art and not science. I did find I had to use a lot of pigment, like A LOT to cover heavier toothed paper and it wore down my pencil quickly. I have only had this product for a few weeks and already I need replacements, however, I do not think the company has any open stock which is a HUGE disadvantage to other artist quality pencils. The price point is fine maybe a little on the higher side but very fair for what you actually get. I do think it is a great product for a newer artist. It will make blending easier for that same artist. I think it is a little more gimmicky than I like but the pencils themselves were smooth and after you use them for a while they grow on you. However, I can't replace some and I will not spend another $50 on the full set to get a few of my favorite colors. This may be something the company may want to think about if they are trying to appeal to the more advanced artist. (I am not saying I am anything special, but I do have lots of experience with different mediums.) I think these pencils have great potential and are worth the money, the only reason I am going with four stars is the inability to replenish my used pencils once I have used them. NOW to leave on a positive note, the colors of the pencils themselves like the actual colors are awesome. I love the names too they fit very well with what actually appears on the paper. (at least to my rods and cones), you will get many color choices and they are just beautiful!

From the the device that I had read, I eas very hesitant to order these pencils. Mind you, I use colored pencils all day long, everyday. I go through tons of pencils, have a really goods ifde as to whether pencils are worth your hsarfd earned money. I have abthree tiered cart full of pencils arranged by brand in their own pencil cases. (Good pencils can get expensive, and I want to protect them as much as possible. I'm not a happy camper if my money is just circling the drain.Chameleon pencils come very attractively presented or packaged. The first thing that I did was make color swatches. The pencils aren't soft and creamy; I would say that the hand, or feel of them is much like Prismacolor Verithins. With several exceptions; 1. These are highly pigmented pencils, so that despite the fact that they have much harder cores, you don't have to press down on them in order to get beautiful results. 2: I was very pleased as to how easy it is to blend them. 3. When coloring, I usually have a handful of pencils in one hand while I color wit the other. Because these each pencil is actually 2 pencils, I don't have near as many pencils in one. Very quickly I found myself flipping back and forth between the two colors. I actually not better results with the Chameleon pencils because the shade or color I needed to shade with was right there in my hot !little hand.I noticed that some were complaining about the lack of colors shades of pencils iinthis box, compared to many other companies 72, 90 or 150 colors. I realized very quickly that these 50 colors are the bones you find your self reaching for every day......you find that these are the ones you must replace regularly, and using the balance of colors only occasionally. You then find your self with a huge box of colors you rarely use. And because these pencils are harder, you sharpen them far less frequently...... your hatrd earned box of pencils now lasts much longer.I just want to make one last comment about these gorgeous pencils. If you are heavy handed with your pencils like me, you find your self breaking far less pencils and once again saving money.These truly are a professional grade of pencils that you won't regret spending money on them.

After debating if I want to order them, reading a few not so good reviews, I decided to take a chance and got NOT disappointed:)I love the color scheme and the way they feel in my hand, very comfortable. They are on the harder side but doesn’t mean you have to press hard to get the beautiful color effect especially both sided. They do not smear or leave white specks on the paper. All I can say I love them and look forward coloring more with them in one of my (many) books. And, also to mention, even though you only get half of a pencil u probably get more because they sharpen beautifully and don’t need it very often. Also, they came already very nice pre-sharpened, ready to GO!

Love these pencils. They blend great and I love the dual tips and the convenient holder. So happy with this purchase. Exactly what I was looking for at a great price.

These are fun pencils to use but I am not liking the color blending of the end to end pencil. The colors are almost to similar to achieve the blended result i what there by negating the flip over pencils ability to shade well. I end up searching the box for deeper shades. I do like them though and will continue to explore them. A good beginner set and somewhat fun to use.

These arrived on my doorstep in less than a day (Amazing Amazon!) and I am happy with my purchase. I don’t use color pencils often, but do like to work with them from time to time. The set only has 25 pencils, but the double ended pencils provide 50 color options which is cost effective to me. I like that two very blendable colors are in each pencil as it makes for quicker work. The carry box not only protects the pencil in shipment, but the way the box works as it’s own stand is very handy. I would recommend for someone like me - a beginner!

They are a well made pencil. I like the novelty of the two colors on each pencil. They stay sharp and arrived packaged safely and in good condition. The box they come in is good for throwing in your purse and going out with and for standing up on your desk to look pretty.

I absolutely love these pencils. They really do take the guess work out of blending. I am by no means a professional colourist far from it but I have to say my projects look amazing after using these pencils. I love the price of them too. Yes there are critics who would say that you only get halve of a pencil and half of another and that is true but the benefit is that you do not have to think about which colour you need to find to blend because low and behold it is at the bottom of the pencil. Check them out for yourself and you too will be amazed at how good you are at colouring.
